What are your yard 'must haves' that you think more people should know about?

Mine at the moment are a waterproof fly rug (perfect for keeping the rain off while not overheating) and hair bands (great for holding rug buckles in place and shortening surcingles).

Tell me yours!

Tiger tongue! Brilliant for getting mud off faces of sensitive horses and does a brilliant job of getting sweat of girth line and behind ears etc without having to completely soak them.

And most recently, something that has genuinely changed my life (first world problems!) is the honest riders soap bar For washing horses. AMAZING! So good for bathing and especially for getting stains off knees/hocks etc!

Newborn or 2-3 months nappies

Use as a poultice for hoof abscesses, or cut up as a dressing for cuts under vet wrap, also good for padding hooves when horse has lost a shoe, it’s terribly footsore and farrier can’t come for a day or so...tape on with gaffer or gorilla tape on the sole area

I've recently bought some new work/yard gloves as the eczema on my hands is bad and, although the ones I had were protecting me from most irritation like handling hay, my hands were really dry. These new ones are for sensitive skin and have aloe and vitamin e in them so when I'm done mucking out etc my hands feel all nice and conditioned :)

Agree with Auslander and Esmae about cable ties. Adding to the list...

More cable ties, in a variety of sizes.
Getting rid of SLS from all skin care products - skin hasn't been happier
Making my own rope halters using a youtube help video. They are terrible, and don't fit that well, but the feeling of achievement....
Red Horse hoof stuff in general.
Cremedemonthe's saddle care products - brought a tub a long while ago ( I clean my tack, honestly ! ) and it is fab !
Decathlon yoga leggings things for non riding days - comfy, stretchy, not too hot, cheap.
Soakable grass pellets for greedy tubby ponies over winter - they feel full, they are happy, they behave - I am happy.

An outside tap! :)

years we have made do with taking the hose-pipe out through the kitchen door for filling water buckets in both stable and field, or for any other water needed on the yard. Last week we had an outside tap fitted and now we can have water outdoors while the kitchen door is closed - what a difference that will make this winter!

Foldable wheelie cart thingy. I love it! At the moment it’s just to move my kit etc from stable to lorry so I can do it in one trip. Bought for camp mainly which I didn’t get to this year but am so chuffed with it just for normal use.

Gloves - thin ones, thick ones, water proof ones. I have a bucket of gloves by the feed room door. Saves chilblains on your fingers. I also use an old ski glove on the padlock to stop it freezing in winter.

Wheel barrows - you can never have to many wheelbarrows. I have a hay one (doubles as a feed bucket one) a poo picking one. And about 3 spare ones just in case.

Yes! I lasted about a month without an outside tap here!
