just had to move my horse to new stables, previously was on rubber and straw - now as the drainage is worse than before, the wee seems to be running under the rubber and out the front of the stable and is gonna stink! The rubber on top seems relatively dry as does the straw which makes me think that all the wee is going straight under the rubber!! Looks awful and isnt drying now the weather is cold...
Not sure what to use as he is a 'wet' boy any help appreciated!!!!!!!!!!

urm...*thinking*
cant you just use straw without rubber matting, because the wee will just soak into the straw, and everyday, just sweep the wee and dirty straw out.

hope that helps, cant say i have useful advice lol

Ive just changed to equisorb and its the BEST thing i ever did!

Its very warm and absorbant and cheaper than aubiose and softer and you throw away much much less as the poos dont get burried even if the turd dance

I have a 14 x 12 box for my mare, i dont have rubber so quite a thick bed and I do one bale every week and she is quite wet. Also takes me about 5/10 mins max to skip out in the mornings and then about 20 mins to take the wet out at the weekend

You can also use the rubber and put aubiose on top, its a lovely bed as it doesnt move around at all.

Personally I would never go back to shavings etc now, its so much easier to use and the muck heap is considerably smaller!!

Your horse sounds exactly like mine. My horse was on rubber mats with straw (straw is free at our yard) and it used to run out and smell foul....he did a tendon and removed mats and replaced with rubber flooring (well more like sealed rubber mats) and now on shavings - different horse! Doesn't smell, shavings absorbs the wet and I use about 8 bales month max so about £48. Worth every penny and though now back in work - am sticking to the shavings! Tried Hemcore and Bedmax and still sticking to Hunter shavings.... good luck

megazorb soaks up everything ,you take out wet once a week and droppings daily.best thing I ever did for my disgusting horse takes me 10 mins my daughters clean mare only takes 5mins and you dont smell.I have considered shavings on the top but will always use megazorb.

We have rubber mats and straw is included in our livery. But we still put a layer of shavings underneath the straw which catches the wee perfectly.
