As tite really my pony is going to be in at night during the winter but when he stay in he wees everywhere he currently has a full thick straw bed I get there in the morning to find just wet and my pony and his rug covered in wee and poo stains. So need a bedding that's absorbent cheap and thick enought for him to lie down on also his stable is rubber matted.

It's about £9 per bale. It's hemp and works best deep littered (IMO).

Flax bedding works well too but I found Aubiose better.

Wood pellets work out cheaper, but I got fed up watering them. ;)

However all of the above would work deep littered with a wet dirty horse. :)

I found my messy horse was better with more bedding. I only took normal amount out then but if I skimmped on bedding I ended up taking most of it out!! Lesson learnt!! Start with loads!! Then only need to take out small amount and top up Around a bale per week which is same as my clean horse! :-)

My boys was exactly the same on straw despite a thorough muck out ever day it would be soaking and turned up with bare concrete in places and he would be soaked and stinking!

I now use wood pellet £3.50 ish a bag and I use 2/3 bags a week in the winter (in at night) its super absorbent and his bed is no longer trashed- i love the stuff would never use anything else now.

I use Ecobed, small pieces of cardboard. Much cleaner and easier to muck out and I have a disgustingly dirty horse :o

I also find wee wicks through ecobed leaving the top clean.

Could be worse, my girl is very clean in the stable but the minute you get her in the school or roundpen she poos for England, and when in season pees everywhere as well.
