what bedding do people suggest for 16.3 wabxtb who is quite messy in that she does walk round her box a few times in the night to get form her hay to her water and a general snuffle about. wees in one place but straw bede can look like a bomb has hit itin the middle (nopt on banks). next winter i will put her on rubber mats 6x4 and i think her stable is 12x12. or 13x13. paper she LOVES and will eat over hay, wheat straw she is on at mom and is ok but will eat some. cardboard squares she eats, barley straw she eats the whole bed, megazorb was terrible for her. I dont have a lot of time to muck out so needs to be quick, max 1 bale week due to costs. if i put her on shavings (some others on yard are on bedmax) and just bed tha banks and sprinkle bit in middle i am concerned she will lay in muck and be smelly and messy for riding in morning. and cost of bedmax i think is £8 a bale? will she trash her poo into 1000 bits that will be a nightmare to mcuk out.

You have quite a large horse in a fairly small stable. Most 12' x12' wooden stables are infact more like 11'04" x 11'04" when you measure internally & the beds are churned over every time the horse moves around.

For cheap bedding you could try wood pellet. You need 6-8 bales to set up a bed but then you'll probably only need one or two bags in each week & they are between £4.60 - £2.45 per bag depending on the amount you buy. We actually used Bedmax for our boys but our YO uses wood pellet & it takes minutes to muck out. You just skip off the poo & the wee clumps together so it's quick & easy to remove.

This is our local company but there are various suppliers around the country.
