What bit combo is this?

Weird. There's no rein attached to whatever is attached to the curb cheekpiece, so I can only assume its a full cheek mouthpiece on the Cheltenham gag, and stabilised using the second cheekpiece? It's weird af though. The reins are both attached to the gag.
 
I think that has the old tongue plate attachment which is what is attached to the bridoon slip head- haven’t seen one of those in years. Then it’s a cheltenham gag on the rest
 
Yes he can be a tricky one!
I’m sure he can be! A tongue layer simply keeps tongue under whatever bit, in itself, no impact on speed, steering, etc, altho maybe a psychological effect.
The gag rein to lift the head from dropping too low, the plain rein with martingale to prevent throwing the head too high, and grackle to stop mouth opening /jaw crossing, taking hold. Presumably got all bases covered!
