Just a quick one. I am hoping to do a bit of local in hand showing with my coloured pony this summer. I usually walk him out in a normal stainless steel loose ring French link snaffle which he seems happy with. Today I picked up a lovely little in hand bridle 60% off in a sale - classical Havana with brass buckles. Is it ok to just put my normal bit in or would something else be more correct ? Am totally new to showing ! Thanks all.

Your usual bit should be just fine. Make sure you fit it at the correct height as your cheek pieces will probably be a different length

It depends on the size of your horses head. Personally I prefer small side - bridoons, small ringed eggbuts or wee vulcanite straight bar loose ring snffles.

Found it at the local agricultural merchant - OH went in for chicken feed and came out and said there was some rugs and stuff on sale did I want to go in and look (love OH - is fully supportive of rug habit and has been known to succumb himself !) They just had a couple on a shelf -lovely English leather £70 down to £25 - bargain. Thanks for bit advice - may be interesting to see how he goes in a straight bar, although always reluctant to change if ok with what we have !
