What bit ?

I would do lots of work in hand with a be nice halter/doolally. Particularly asking the horse to go backwards and move over at your request.

If the horse is strong a Dr Bristol might be suitable.
 
Uhm its not a stronger bit that you need in my opinion. You and your horse need to go back to basics with manners, If there is a behaviourist in your area I would get their help. Things like asking him to keep out of your space, teaching him to lead properly and stop when you stop etc will all help with the bolshiness that you describe.
