my mare is currently ridden in a loose ring snaffle(been both average thickness and a hollowmouth) she isnt particularly fussy with bits but i want something new for her that is just right.

she works on her bridle almost naturally and is very light on the hand so i want a bit that is nice and soft as my contact is really good with her?

the only thing i want to acheive from a new bit is something to make my hand aids abit clearer for her as she is quite difficult to get bending correctly?

i dont know if that really makes sense as i cant explain it well, but what are your thoughts on the best bit for her??

thanks :)

Said 1000 times before but this sounds like a schooling issue, not a bitting issue - especially as you said she is light in the hand. It sounds like you need lots more inside leg (presuming you want inside bend)

Have you tried Neue Schule. They offer a really good advice service. We rang them for our mare explained the problem and they were helpful.

Not sure a new bit would achieve more bend. If its working well generally, then I would keep with this bit and look at exercises to do to help with the bending. The last thing you wana do is make her heavy in the mouth or start evading the bit because you changed it!
One thing I swear by, it lots of flexion left and right on both rein, at the start of schooling before you even start taking up a real contact. I find this really helps when I start working the horse.

i should of really mentioned that im not getting the bit to solve the issue i know that never works :) i am in the middle of retraining her as she wasnt schooled to listen to any leg aids at all thast why her turning is shocking and is very difficult at the minute to stop her drifting even with alot of leg, i just wondered if there was something that could just aid her a little in the right direction whilst i get her listening to the leg thats all...sorry if i confused anyone :o

thats the issue really at the moment she is avoiding the bit the moment you put any pressure on to the bit(e.g for brakes, even just lightly) she will stick her head up and pull against it.

shes really hard right now as im just starting her again so i just wanted abit of an aid for now..

but thanks anyway ill try that excericse:)
