afternoon all...

need to get a new set of boots for my wee TB and have no idea what to get! he's had a few leg issues in his 4 years, including doing a suspensory, fracturing a cannon and then loosing half the skin off his leg in a fight with a gate which also lost him a bit off his tendon.... he doesnt brush but as you can imagine I am a tad paranoid about his rather delicate front legs! He has been wearing Clarendons but they are getting a bit old so time to get nice new boots for everyday.

I did want a set of wrap round boots to give him protection round his pastern and fetlock area as I have Mark Todd ones for my cob which I like but they dont do them small enough as Tb has pony sized legs... I am think of getting the Woof Wear Xc boots... anyone used them...?

Any suggestions or product reviews appreciated...!

Sorry to hear your horse has been through the wars. The boots I use are the Professional Choice Polo Wraps. You buy them in different sizes which are all in measurements on their website. They are expensive but mine have lasted the last 6 years being used every day.

I am totally paranoid about my mare's front legs and as such always use bandages now!! They are a pain until you learn to put them on quickly but IMO offer the most protection.

I used Woof wear XC boots on my old eventing ponio and thought they were great for XC in terms of tendon protection.

sorry.... not v helpful....... LOL!

Thanks for that...

I now tend to bandage when I ride him - however the girl who exercises him for me occasionally cant bandage and neither can my OH so was thinking boots for ease and quickness...

or maybe i should be teaching them to bandage this weekend....

the polo wraps sound interesting - I shall go look....

mine have a total mixture of boots.

In the field Archie wears a set of premier equine 'airflow' boots. He wears polo fleece bandages for schooling. Bloss wears pro-tec sports boots for schooling on the front and has eskadron climatex combination bandages on the back. Or she wears a set of woof double velcro boots if i cant be bothered with bandages!

I use sports medicine boots II on my mares fronts. as she has weak pasterns and tends to jar. She also strained a tendon once. But wearing them for the last 7yrs she has never had a problem. I would imagine they would fit your mares legs, thay come in a range of sizes.
I swear by them and wouldn't try the other imitations. They are expensive but mine are still going (just occasionally have the velcro re-newed). I also bought a very newish pair off of ebay for £11, and genuine.

Don't know about Woof Wear xc boots but the club brushing boots are great. I use Eskadrons for jumping - also very good. Have just bought some N.E.W lightweight competition boots, haven't used them yet but they're a good fit and i've heard good things about them.
