I am getting a new horse and thinking of putting him on wood pellets only instead of shavings I have heard lots of good reviews but don’t really know what brand is the best (functionality and economically)
help is very much appreciated xx

I buy mine by the pallet full from White Horse Energy and I’ve had the Platinum Plus, Unbranded and Firepower. Out of those I’d say the unbranded are best value for money. The PP are good but I think you pay a premium for the name. I think the Firepower are currently cheapest but not as absorbent in my experience. They are a coarser texture and darker.

You need to look at the delivery options carefully as depending on the property access and your local distributor they may only do kerbside delivery. Although I’ve ordered online before but because they nearly delivered to my billing address instead of the delivery address 2 pallets of 65 bags (I live in a terrace with only a small parking area)I rang them up last time to ensure they had the correct details I then got a confirmation email with all the tracking info so I could check progress. Worked a lot better for me.

I use Sorbeo, slightly more expensive but they come in bigger bags and find they stay a nicer colour. The customer service is great as well, a while ago I had 6 split bags when they were delivered and they gave me a choice of a refund for 6 bags or discounting me the 6 bags on my next order.

I use platinum plus from White energy and have been really impressed with them so far. The colour of some of the other pellets put me off somewhat. I have a discount code for 5% off your first order - RebWri50372

The cheapest kind are the best kind imo.

? Some don't give quite as white a bed but for the extra money I wouldn't be caring!

I have used Verdo whihc wree dreaful and White Horse Platinum Plus which are great. I tried the unbranded but too many bags split on the pallet. The pellets were fine but the packaging was flimsy. I ended up wasting a lot.

Snowflake are my favourite and I've tried many different brands. I like Platinum Plus too, but costwise, Snowflake work out cheaper, as there are more pellets in a bag

I like platinum plus as they are very light in colour just ordered a pallet for £257, they are a pretty good price at the moment with the additional discount ?

Just wondering, what does the whiteness of the bed signify? I have never worried about colour but I see that many feel the white ones are better. Is there some functional reason?

Aquamax without a doubt. I've tried cheaper and ended up using twice as many so doesn't actually save you any money ? Also they are a wood crumble rather than pellet so make a nicer fluffier more absorbent bed :)

They usually go brown when wet/dirty so 1) it’s easier to distinguish between clean and dirty when mucking out and 2) because of that the bed can look dirty when it actually isn’t. I don’t worry too much myself.

No functional reason for me, I just think they look cleaner and I love a big white bed. Previously been on shavings so long when I see a brown bed I assume it’s dirty.
