Hi!
I'm drawing a commission for a friend at the moment, of a horse who was pts after getting colic this week. The photo I've got of the horse (I've never met him) isn't too clear so I'm thinking I'd like to find out what breed he is (I've asked my friend and he said he isn't sure) and do a search to get a better photo of the muzzle and ears.
Anyone any ideas as to what breed he might be? This is the photo I have. Apparently he stands around 14.2 - 15hh.

Also any other artists, any advice on how to draw him?

thanks! Annie x

Can't they send you any other photos of the horse? That's a really tricky one to get a good likeness from as you have the top of the ears out of frame, the horse has a worried expression and the glare makes his colour hard to see, plus the plaited mane is unflattering.

No, apparently not, I've just asked for a couple more but they're either really far away or miss off the top of his head because he's grazing :L If I could figure out what breed he is I could base the conformation loosely on another horse and neaten it up after but guessing breeds was never my strong point :S

The chances are he won't be any breed in particular, very many horses are a heinz 57 of differnt breeds, making them very unique.. but hard to use a pure bred example to use as reference for features!

If i had to make a wild stab in the dark Id go with some kind of TBx. So maybe thoroughbred ears or muzzle might fit in.

Thankyou alainax, I'm hearing he's got Quarter Horse blood in him as well, it's a start I suppose! Might have a quick search and see if the yard have a website or anything with any better pictures of him haha!
Is he from the UK or USA?

If the US the quarter horse may be a good chance, but they are relatively rare in the UK so I wouldn't bet on it.
