I have young tbx who has only just started his training and he hasnt really put hoof wrong, hes growing in confidence and tries to please with all his ridden work .His only downfall is stressing in his paddock, hes improved and in right position in seperate paddocks has stopped pacing apart from meal times.I have been adding magnesium to his feed and not sure if this has helped maybe hes just settling in his new home.Wondering what other people would suggest to help him relax in his field.Hes put on 40 kilos so I know hes not over stressing now.Hes more aggitated than stressed.

Does he have a friend in or near his paddock? Are there things to keep him entertained?

Calmers (especially Magnesium and Calcium) will only have an effect if your horse is deficient in those minerals. Valerian and Vervain will possibly help, but they are prohibited in competition so if you are planning on competing with him, they are not the best thing to use.

He always has company but prefers to be in middle of his favourite four, obviously thats not possible all the time but he has company 100% of time.Hoping he will grow out of it hes not looning around but will pace near meal times.I feel hes been hungry in past but he has fairly good grazing ad lib hay and two good feeds a day .Hes happiest when they are all tucked in corner together.Never had pacer before and it appears he settles when we have all left yard . Maybe toy would help .Hes also happier in block of paddocks closer to stables so will be content over winter most probably.
