Hi everyone!

I'm very new to showing and I was just wondering if someone could help me out? I'm wanting to show my 4 year old 13.2 dapple grey cob type mare- in anything!!
There doesn't seem to be much for this size pony unless they're those flicky toe, spindle ponies.
If not, I'll just have to enjoy her for the pleasure she is :D

These photos are quite old, and her mane is back to being really long and thick :)

If you don't know her breeding then unreg m and m maybe, also depends on what age you are as some pony classes are confined to junior riders. Lovely pony.

Awh thanks Clairlex, she' an absolute sweet heart.
She was pulled out of a skip with her foal, all emaciated and on the way to slaughter with no breeding knowledge. I've been told unreg m&m before, but I didn't think she'd quite fit in. Worth a shot, then!
And I'm 21 :)

Does she have full feathers, i.e. from the knee/hock and covering her hooves? Without seeing a recent photo it's hard to tell but I am wondering if she would fit in as a traditional gypsy cob - see the breed standard here:

http://www.tgca.co.uk/breedstandard.htm - any colour is allowed and you don't have to know the breeding.

If just local there are probably a few you could enter - traditional/gypsy cob, prettiest mare, best turned out, local horse/pony, riding club/ pc horse. You could even get away with cob classes at local level, even if most are hogged cobs they are pretty lenient to make up the entries - i.e. they usually let duns and roans in the coloured classes :)

If you're talking local shows there's usually a couple of classes that are based on their suitability to do a job rather than their breeding / type. What about best pony club / riding club horse - basically looking for a nice well behaved all rounder? They might want you to pop a small jump in that class. Family horse/pony might be another good one for her especially as she's well built so could carry an adult, but also looks small enough for a child. You may need to rope a child in for that as some classes want them to be ridden by an adult and a child.

I can't help with classes I just posted to say.... She is absolutely gorgeous (and I'm not a hairy cob person !)

Maybe you could do Best Turned Out (as mentioned above) Best condition and I would agree with Cob classes at local level for sure. Depends on what classes your local shows offer really.

Thanks everyone!

Her feathers are a tad bog burnt at the moment to apply for TCGA but I am looking into that :)

At least there's something we can get scrubbed up for and show off in, so that's good.

She's such an amazing mare and I just need to get her out and about!
Excited now :D
