i have a 510 ifor and some of you might have read my post a little while back. while it was brilliant at towing the OH was annoyed at my £550 per month diesel bill. so after two months of it i sold it and have gone back to a sports car. i need help, i can borrow a suitable vehicle to tow but don't want to have to keep asking for it. i have a 10k budget is there anything that would pull this trailer and also be a bit more economical i was getting 25miles to the gallon in my 4x4 . on a normal week i drive approx 500 miles .any advice greatly received thanks

Have a look at What Car Website and look at the specs of any vehicles that interest you. You'll need to find something with enough kerbweight, so that your trailer plus your horse(s) plus tack and car occupants other than the driver do not exceed 85% of the car's kerbweight. A diesel should be economical and is good for towing with I believe.

I think unfortunately anything suitable for towing is going to be a gas guzzler. Couldnt you spend a smaller amount on an older 4 x 4 and use it for towing only and to-ing and fro-ing from the stables and keep the sports car for everything else. What you save on day to day diesel running arround in the 4 x 4 would more that pay for the insurance etc.
