Hi, there is a local unaff show coming up that id like to take my horse to. Just been looking on the schedual and they have a ridden hunter class and a riding horse class....i think id get away with entering the hunter class but what type is a 'riding horse'? Heres a pic of the horse id be entering, would she be suitable to do both classes?

Hard to tell from a tiny pic but looks more hunterish to me, though a lot of the time it is down to 'way of going' for the more borderline horses.

Nothing to stop you entering both, showing is subjective after all, though there are slightly different turnout requirements for each class :)

Thanks, so whats the correct turnout for the riding horse class? is it fancy browbands and things

Hopefully FMM or one of the showing experts will be along to advice but I always swapped from a velvet browband and finer cavesson noseband for RH to plain flat noseband and browband for hunters. :) Mine was RH through and through although it was nice to have an extra class to do at times.

Have fun, do both at a local level.

If you go up a level and do hunters, if the horse is under 16.2hh you might feel a little swamped by the others.

At a local show and not a qualifier or anything then in my experience you will be fine in both.

I took my boy into the hunters and the ridden horse - he did better in the ridden but he clearly is a hunter!
As Rhino said - bridle changes but I didn't change a thing. I also forgot my boots and rode in chaps. At local level I think they look pass the little details - more on the horse.
