My OH who is pretty novice is keen to do some shows in the summer, just for fun.

He really wants to do inhand stuff as his riding is not up to show standard at all yet, he is just learning, so my question is are there any in hand classes he could do with our 17.3hh WB x ISH, 6yrs old?

We do have a shettie he could show but I know he would love to do something with the big lad.

I havent a clue about in hand showing for horses of his kind.

Thank you for any advice.

If he wanted to do a ridden class what about tack and turnout!.All they do is walk round the ring get pulled in to be inspected then ride around the ring again then pulled in for placings??.Just an idea!.

Depending on the show you could have in hand riding horse or hunter- for a small local show you could get away with putting him in both just for experience. Also the novelty classes such as handsomest gelding, best bay, kindest eyes etc.

Have fun

Thanks Hazel yeah I think he wants to do the more fun and light hearted stuff at first, no pressure type of thing.

LOL Rema he would have a heart attack if I suggested him riding in a class!

He does want to do that eventually but maybe next season, You know OH Hazel, he will love the novelty stuff!

Best condiditon? No idea what condition he's in whatsoever as don't know him.

Have a suggestion for a VERY shiny coat though, Kassolian Blood Salts. Not extremely expensive (about £20) and lasts for at least three months on my cob...

A pic of my cob's shiny coat:
