What Classes would he be best in? Cant do ROR

Got two TBs that cant do ROR because one trained but never raced and one only raced in Ireland. Both are quite stocky TBs (one people keep asking is he a cob x tb) Good clean limbs good confirmations and one goes very nicely the other needs a bit more work.

Want to do some showing classes come spring summer as well as the SJ and x country, what classes would they be best suited in?

Shame the Irish TB couldnt do ROR because I think he would do well.
 
I have the same problem with mine - raced in Ireland so not eligible. HOWEVER, Ex Racer Club runs exracer classes, not to nearly the same extent as ROR, and my Irish racer is eligible, so you may find yours is too? They run their Scottish Champs at Blair where ROR runs theirs and runs alongside, so that's what I'm aiming for with mine:

Also, my NH build TB looks like a classic hunter - so hunter classes (if your TBs are scar-free) are also an option.
 
Why can't a horse do ROR in england if has raced in ireland? Just curious, I haven't heard of this before but I'm in NI :)

Unless you mean horse has only done p2p which makes him uneligble? do they have to have raced under rules (ie. jump or flat)?

He has raced under rules (jump) but only in Rep of Ire. He would have been eligible if NI.

Has to have raced in Great Britain under rules to enter in any ROR competition series. Says so on the website.
 
This is something my friend found with her TB.

I always wondered (bearing in mind I know nothing about racing and certainly not what the Rules are) if a TB couldn't just be put in a race, just once, to make them ROR eligible? Find a local friendly racehorse trainer kind-of-thing?

Hi,
it's not quite that simple sadly. The horse has to be registered with a trainer and a BHA owner. There are costs associated with registering a trainer and colours (silks) as well as the actual entry/jockey fees for the actual race.
It often comes down to whether the trainer/owner feels its worth the money to actually put it through a race. Plus, if the horse is no longer in training, would it actually be fit enough?

There are large costs and sponsorship questions which have to be dealt with before a horse runs - it is why trainers take horses out of training and sell them on instead of racing something they know isn't worth the grade - there is no point running a horse that is no good, if nothing else it is a black mark against a trainer.
