Well, Wings was clipped today ( :D ) and he goes a fairly strange colour when clipped. He's a bright orange bay, but when clipped, goes to more of a dun colour!! I also noticed how many cuts he actually has (play fights a lot with my sister's horse!) I'll try and get a picture of him tomorrow.

So, what colour do you horses turn when clipped?

My horse is a golden dun/buckskin but a real yellowey colour with black points. His first clip he is the same colour but will be a bit dappled, but his 2nd winter clip (about now but i haven't clipped yet due to bad weather as not been getting him out enough) he will be a dark grey/mouse dun.

Gerry is a proper black horse but he goes a grey/brown colour when clipped. Can't wait for his nice glossy summer coat to come through.

I watched it jesstickle!! And yeah, Wings goes that sort of colour too, big difference to his bright orange legs!!

Also, bit of a weird questions, but you know the muscle horses have that goes from where their back legs start and up, is there a reason why some horse's are more prominent than others? Because when Wings was clipped, you can really see his and it continues up his side until the middle of his ribs basically?! :p

Shetland stays pretty much the same, the palomino goes almost white, and the buckskin goes silver which I love!!!!

Mine are still coloured obviously but you can see where the grey hair joins the darker hair as there is a blue line in between the patches! Also, my Appy turns PINK when he is clipped because he is pink skinned. :D

She seems to change colour every year! Altho shes become a hairy beastie this year & has stayed similar to her summer colour with a grey/brown tinge :)

Mine is a proper ginger beastie in the summer but when clipped he goes the loveliest pale caramel colour. He has a much darker (liver chestnut) mane and tail so looks stunning. I am always getting comments at comps or having people stop me out hacking and say how different he looks; I am almost tempted to clip all year round (except he's a b***** to clip!)

:)

My girls a Blue roan, this is her a couple of years ago in the spring, so her summer coat was coming through... I had many comments at the show that day about having a two tone pony... lol
