I recently bought a pair of Mark Todd Gisbourne breeches in beige and love them ( converted from jods, to use for competitions) need to buy another pair and was wondering if i bought another beige pair for messing about in would i look like a pompous prat!!! the only other colours in this style are canary, white, brown, black or beige so maybe i should go for black? although not brilliant with summer coming up.

Anyway got me thinking, what do you wear whilst your down the yard?

and are there any other styles similar to the MT ones that have better choice of coulour or cheaper!!

not so much about what you look like wearing them everyday, more how long before they are too stained to be seen in. Hopevalley have the MT in grisbourne in several colours for £29.99

can you just remind me are these the nice very stretchy ones?

i wear the usual blue, black, brown

Anything at all that I've got that's not actual show wear. I favour dark colours but ive even got some sale ones that are bright turquoise.

Yes they are quite stretchy, been on their website but only have certain sizes left :-(

I wear paler colours in Summer - you just have to resign yourself to changing and washing them more :)
My favourite pair are Pikeur and the colour is Sahara which is a dark beige/khaki sort of colour - light enough for summer but dark enough to be serviceable... for a few days anyway :D

Are they a really dark grey? Hadn't thought about grey before

Medium grey. Wear them winter and summer. They call them Charcoal. Have some on ebay now. Funnily enough the ones from ebay were HVSaddlery when they arrived. They have actually changed their name to Mark Todd Euro Seat. They are cotton rich, suede knee patch, not too tight (no sausage legs!), but not baggy either.

I only own one pair of yellowish ones for best but even then I only wear even darker jods for lessons for every day I ride in skinny jeans or Chinos in summer. I can never get comfortable Jods, so called suede knee patches give me blisters and they all seem to disintegrate shockingly fast. But my choice of colour is determined far more by the camouflage of filth than by any desire not to look like a prat!

Don't care what colour they are (we do patchy-patchy not matchy-matchy) - usually whatever fits and is in the bargain bin and cheap. When they get too horrible then I dye them to make 'em last a bit longer.

Black, dark grey or navy.

Ditto. Love the MT Gisbourne breeches........ nice & cool for the summer - BUT recently took the plunge and bought a pair of Kerrits!! That's done it, I'm a convert now. They really are lovely, very comfy and stretchy plus they not only feel good they look good too.

Oh, and the colour? Black!

Basically black or navy, not that I wear jods these days, I'd feel like a fraud since I never actually get on any horses these days!

kerrits for me too, in black, black and navy

Don't worry, that's positively toffish compared to me. I just wear what ever happens to be on my legs at the time. If that's shorts, so be it.

Are you me? I used to wear shorts and half chaps, but am slightly conscious that my thighs will take over the world like the Staypuft Man if i don't contain them a bit. Have no shame about hacking out in pyjama bottoms and half chaps if the fancy takes me though.

Britches-wise - i have 2 pairs of Caldene Madrids, one blue/grey, and one dark beige. I love em, and wear them almost exclusively. Except when I fancy pyjama bottoms...

If I bother to put on breeches they will be loudly checked ones.

Mostly I just wear the arse out of whatever pair of trousers I happen to have on :p

If you want cheap, comfy, sticky bum ones try ebay for HKM ones. My last two pairs were about £30 each and they wash well and are reasonably flattering :)

I have two pairs of everyday jods - one brown and tan pair, and one in hunter green. If they're both in the wash, I tend to just grab the nearest pair of jeans.

grey,black,navy,brown normally.
i usually wear a top that matches the horses pad/bandages and then toning breeches.

i do have one pair of bright blue and one pair of bright pink breeches, which i love, tend to wear them with a very muted colour scheme on the horse so as not to burn anyones retinas out!

For winter it's HH Colorado corduroy jods, for everything else it's DH Berwick in blue check or jeans. I bought a load of jeans from Tesco in the sale, the stretchy ones (not jeggings) with lycra in them for £5 each in blue and black.

Black or black and grey Decathlon breeches or cheap jeggings - whatever's not in the wash really. Never wear shorts as have more nettles than grass at home, plus my legs look like leftover pastry most of the time.
