She has a black dorsal strip and quite a big black patch on her tummy :) So obviously she is dun, but i always assume duns to be a golden colour with black mane etc

Normal native type yellow dun in it`s winter coat..just like my highland out there in the fields.Def no "blue" or "mouse" about that one.

How old is she? Does she have any grey hairs? She is a very similar colour to my highland, he is grullo, or black dun and also has grey. His passport states Grey Dun. She doesn't really look dark enough to be Mouse to me but I could easily be wrong!

This is him aged about 7 months

She's 6yrs old. No grey hairs that i've seen :) Not sure of her breeding but I think she was advertised as dartmoor cross possibly :)

Although having said I think she's dartmoor cross her passport is from wales, never seen a passport like it before. It's a pink one and just says Equine Passport issued for a non-registered equine so??

:)

She is very interesting! Looking at her summer photo some Highland people would probably call her cream dun. She must have some highland or shetland blood in there to have the dun gene - I'm assuming she is pony size? Whatever her colour, she is completely beautiful!

BTW my boy at age 5

She is about 12hh I also think she has the shetland in there somewhere due to her personality :)
Hoping being a slightly more unique/different colour she might sell better :)

Lol, she has personality written all over her face! Good luck with selling her, I wish I had space.................

Thing is she isn't actually broken to ride but I don't think she'll take much to break in, think i'm perhaps too big to be first to ride although I only weigh 9st and am struggling to find a small enough jockey at present :)

Very sweet and definately dun, with regard to highland or shetland for the dun gene, I thought welsh have the gene too (or is it only buckskin they carry) anyway gorgeous and love that thick native coat!!!

Yep, dun doesn't exist in Welsh as far as I'm aware, they are all buckskins. Same for the other native breeds except Highlands and Shetlands.

I breed shetland duns. In her winter pictures, I thought she was a bay dun, but in her summer pictures she looks to be a blue dun (black dun / grulla). Sometimes blue duns can have winter coats which are a bit brownish.

Here are some of ours to give you an idea.

Valko, blue dun: http://www.varkiesstud.co.uk/html/valko.html

Viv, blue dun: http://www.varkiesstud.co.uk/html/viva.html

Velia, bay dun: http://www.varkiesstud.co.uk/html/velia.html

There are a couple of other blue / bay duns on the site, as well as chestnut duns, a blue dun roan, and some more usual colours - blacks, bays, etc.
