What colour hat should you use for showing and dressage? I always thought that it should be black for dressage and blue for showing? My hacking jackets are green based and dressage jacket is black!! HELP!!!

Dont know about dressage....I use a blue one for showing, my jackets are blue tweed with blue velvet collar, and a green tweed with blue velvet collar too so that matches.

I would think if no blue on your jacket, black would be ok to match your boots? Or a brown one to match gloves and cane?

God- its soooo confusing, you could drive yourself mad...I have been known to have a panic attack over tie colour.....

This may sound daft, but I think the choice relates to what suits your colouring - navy suits a lot of people, whilst brown may have advantages. Black seems to suit fewer IMHO and also rarely looks good with modern tweeds.

Navy for showing no matter what colour your jacket is. I wear a brown tweed jacket with no velvet collar and I still wear a navy hat.

ETA a black hat is never correct for a woman to show in.

^^^the above is not necessarily true,I know a few people who show at county/national level and wear green velvet, brown velvet hats as they have the collars on there tweed trimmed in that colour velvet it looks very nice and is correct.
However i do agree black should never be seen in the show ring on a women.

ETA i wear a green tweed with blue velvet collar and a blue vlevet hat with a flesh colour harness.

Navy in the show ring for ladies.
You do sometimes see some M&M riders in green or brown (mostly junior riders) but this is rarely seen in the "adult" classes (i,e Riding Horse, Hunters, Cobs).
