I hope to have my first outing this year and will need to get myself a show jacket! I know nothing about what you have to wear for different classes so -

I hope to do a little bit of jumping and possibly a very basic dressage test or two. Stupid question - can I wear the same outfit?

I have a piebald cob - what should I wear to 'match'? Obvious choice is black but it seems a bit boring?

I wouldn't buy anything too out of the ordinary, it may look a little out of place.

You can wear the same outfit for each discipline, there is no requirement to have different clothing for each at the level you're competing at.

You can really wear what you want but I would think a nice tweed hacking jacket would do you for both. It will be smart & you could use it in showing classes as well if you fancied doing that. Wear with cream jods, nice leather gloves & you'll be fine. You don't have to spend a fortune eiher, you can probably pick up what you need really cheaply on ebay. Loads of people buy new gear to compete in & then decide it's not for them so sell the items when they've only been worn a couple of times. You can save a fortune.

Good Luck. :)

A tweed would be most useful if you only have one jacket. You could SJ, DR, show and hunt in tweed. At lower levels you are never wrong in tweed.

Ooooh thanks Ladies, I was hoping that you would say a tweed. Think I might go for a grey with a purple running through it - and there was me thinking I could go a month without buying anything!

I stitched a couple of rugs so I am sure that makes up for it?!! :D
