For this years shows- I currently have a blue tweed. But I only owned Howie at the time- now I have Merlin I need something that will suit him colourwise too. Any ideas? First pic is of me and Howie in my current jacket. Second pic of Merl to give you an idea of his colour. They are both 19months old. Howie will be shown a M&M and Merl in Cob/coloured classes for roans etc etc

Also if you have pics of your jacket that you think might suit my two can you upload it?

Huge thanks!

If you are showing Howie at anything bigger than 'local' level then you should be wearing a tweed jacket for M&M. It might need a case of you changing jackets as you change ponies!!

Can't help with the colour for Merlin though! Sorry.

Hi T_K I do have a tweed jacket- its the one in the first pic- Howie did well in this - I just cant afford 2 jackets so wondered if there was a colour that would suit both- that way I could sell this Caldene one to put towards a nice new one.

I looked alot into this for my yearling. Most people just said green was a great colour that went well with any coloured horse. So as a safe bet you can fall back on that. I bought a second hand Mears jacket off ebay for under £50 and it is ruddy gorgeous!

I was going to upgrade to a new outfit for this year and get a Booksters tweed made up for me, but I might not be able to show inhand ever again, so I had to put that one on hold for now. I have broken my ankle, and people who have broken the parts I have, haven't been able to run ever again, so I face the problem of not being able to show inhand anymore

I really like the brown look, I think it is really smart, easy to match outfit up with everything too. I bought a pair of brown cords for £8 from Primark the other day thinking (hoping) about showing lol! Nothing wrong in being optimistic lol!

This was on a thread the other day that Theresa_F posted a reply to. She does the whole brown look.

If this helps, this is how I show my cob, and you would want similar turnout.

This is him as a 5 year old, hence now wearing a riding bridle.

and as a three year old in his in hand bridle and with a copper bradoon for the bit (he far preferred this to the traditional in hand bits). I am wearing a trilby in this picture, some classes insist on hard hats for youngstock classes.

Ooooh love that brown jacket!

This is the tweed I show in (sorry only got a jumping pic uploaded). Although George is bay, used to show my tricoloured cob in it and it went lovely with his colouring.

I took pics of my horse with me when I chose the jacket!

As much as I would love to take credit for this horse.... he's not mine.... and that isn't me lol!! That is Theresa_F and her horse Stinky! She had posted it on another thread so I quoted it to show off the brown look xx

This is my boy, showing off the green tweed and mixed show-jumper look (classes clashing is always fun)!!!

Any tweed that suit YOU generally looks good

Brown tweed can look good but it can be a bit hit and miss with shades.

I went for the safe green option

I show a couple of horses : brigh bay hunter, jet black showcob/hunter and a traditional coloured cob. Green goes with all of them:o

I didn't have a huge amount of money to splash out so I got the Shires Huntingdon in green check and it's LOVELY! Costs £80 new (but I got mine for £36 brand new off ebay

) and it's good quality, LOOKS expensive, lovely colour and a great flattering fit (though I got mine a size bigger as I do a lot of jumping and hate tight jackets). The blue check's lovely too.
