Hi everyone! I really need to decide what colour gear I'm going to go with for my boy. I have never really bothered with matchy matchy in the past but for whatever reason, I just feel the need to do it now lol, at least just need a base colour but the white is throwing me off.

Any suggestions would be appreciated (photo examples would be awesome)

The predominant colour from the colour wheel in his coat is red so it is often better to go for the opposite colour from the wheel. As others have suggested greens and blues look good. My personal favourites are turquoise and teal for his sort of chestnut but it really a matter of personal preference.

I reckon I'm probs a couple of decades older than you; so being an 'old baggage' I don't 'do' seasonal colours, like lemon, peach, or lime.

Your boy has a lot going on colourwise. I haven't had a coloured horse, but I have had a now retired red bay, with 'pangaray' or 'mealy modifyer' gene bits [the creme around the muzzle and stifle] so he was a bit tricky. I found basic neutrals, [black, white, navy, and maybe red] to be good.
I coordinated my riding wear by buying navy/red/taupe/white/black breeches and tops. Then after Clas retired, I got another dark bay; [everything worked] and then I got a chestnut!

So, lo, it was then navy/maroon/taupe/neutrals. And my bright red things went into mothballs. I'm a bit of a tight arse so i don't like jumping into a colour family I'm going to have to buy everything of.

A black or white saddle blanket would look lovely on him as would pick up the tail colour. And then its easy to match boots.

That said, years of art school in my teens [and intro to the various colour wheels] and then a phd in art history, has meant I do know rules are there to be broken! So break them! lesson with coop 15 feb 18 f.jpg
