what constitutes a controversial post?

im just wondering what constitutes a 'controversial post' on here? i only ask this because eyebrows seemed to be (metaphorically) raised when i asked about people's opinions on whips and spurs a few days ago - are there certain subjects that it's best to avoid? i just want to make sure i dont upset or offend anyone!

i flicked through the first 4 pages or so.....but even that didnt really answer my question. i found 'does it get on your nerves when people get on their high horse,' which i guess could be aimed at someone here(?)...

but im still not sure!

Anything can be controversial that people have strong opinions on - such topics being things like disciplining animals, to shoe or not to shoe, when/how to PTS etc.

But controversial posts are much more interesting so don't stop!

To be perfectely blunt, post what you want!
Its a forum, everyone (although some people dont believe this) is entitled to an opinion and to post what they wish, (of course within T & C's).
ANyways at least with a controversial topic at least you know you'l get lots of replies.

I suggest the "I dont ride in a hat" debate to get you started.

Well, I don't think any are banned but certain ones do seem to raise hackles.......if you want to know what are controversial subjects look down the topic lists......lots of replies generally mean that it was debated in one way or another. Either that, or it is Friday night, everyone has been at the vino and someone has opened the Bar!

[/ QUOTE ] I think the only ones to avoid those that Admin will class as 'defamatory' - ie an attack on a named or easily recognised person or business.

However, if you start a controversial topic then you have to be prepared to take the flak! Often it is not the topic itself but the way the poster words it that is the real problem.

Agree with what others say,you can post an innocent question,and if it isnt worded right you can get jumped on,lol!!!However you get the idea pretty quickly that it needs rephrasing!!

However everybody is entitled to their own opinion and if it causes huge debate amongst others just let it go over your head!!!After all not every body will agree with someone elses way of doing something!!

Don't worry. If you wanted to post about, for example, whipping your horses, and the post went wrong, you could always post a goodbye notice, then come back using a different name.
It's against the Terms and Conditions, of course, but I'm sure everyone would be fooled.

Don't worry. If you wanted to post about, for example, whipping your horses, and the post went wrong, you could always post a goodbye notice, then come back using a different name.

It can be a bit funny, I got my head bitten off once for agreeing that buying a registered Friesian was a good idea (as opposed to unreg'd - I unwisely ommitted the word "registered" from my question, thinking it was a given really... ) but mostly I'd agree that you have to be deliberately controversial to get a harsh response.
