What could be wrong?

I've just been for a ride on my chunky monkey/steady eddy and he wasn't quite as forward going as normal but i put it down to him having moved stables and not wanting to leave his buddies. He was fine though not nappy or anything. He was tripping quite a bit (shoes been on 5 weeks so feet not over long)) but i put it down to him not being quite so keen, then i trotted him and he was clipping his back feet together to the point where it was a click with every stride and i could see where he had when we got back. I'm thinking now did his back end feel quite the same?, im not sure if it did?
So anyway i turned back before a big hill and brought him home. Could it be his back maybe (he does like the odd buck and f**t in the field), should i give him a couple of days and try him again?

Thoughts very much appreciated.

When my horse isn't trotting forward, well being lazy, he sometimes clips behind. As you said he wasn't being as forward as normal, could this be a factor? Hope that maybe some help?

His feet could be slightly long. One of my old share horses used to trip ALOT! and was not at all sure footed (like cobs are apprently meant to be!) and would also clip his feet when trotting, the owner's instructor siad his feet were about an inch longer than they should be. had the farrier out, had them trimmed and then he was fine.

as yuh have recently moved has anyone seen him do anything silly in the field like take a slip or fall over.
is he with other horses? ie not being bullied or wound up

He has only been moved to another stable in our yard not actual home so he can be nearer to our other horses. They are all in individual paddocks so accidents and injuries are kept to a minimum, i think he is generally a very happy chappy (and a piggy) when he goes out which is why he bucks and f**ts.
Thank you all for your replies, i think maybe i should give him a couple of days and try him again, it just seemed so strange.
