Im posting this here because ive had no replies on 'Veternery' and im a little worried/not so sure etc.

My old boy has been in for 24 hours as his melenoma split and bled everywhere.. anyway.. tonight he was eating and you know those little 'holes' above there eyes that move in and out as they chew? Well one looked normal as he ate and the other when it came out looked like a big bubble- alot larger than his left one?

But as he chewed it went back in as normal, it was only when it expanded did it look so big.

Now, im pretty sure ive never noticed this before and both have always been normal!

He also has a bump/swelling (not v. big) on the same side which, when looked at by a vet the other day (while she was dealing with the melenoma) said that he could of bumped it but not to worry it seems painless.

He has had extensive dental work done 1 year ago and had two extra teeth removed, however i had the dentist out only 6 months ago who said everything is all ok etc etc.

any ideas??? Someones mentioned laminitus but i really dont think so, no footiness, no pulses and hes been off grass for the last 48 hours anyway.

Could be be getting a sinus infection? Or does he have a bad tooth so was chewing on the good side more?

I'm sorry, not really sure, just throwing ideas out there! I hope he's okay. Maybe phone the vet and ask if you're that worried.

Nope, no idea I'm afraid

Have you felt it? Is it squashy or bony?

hi ya,

i don't know if this will help but my horse had the same thing monday. we were waiting for the vet to come to give a final opinion on Gem's sleepiness and that she had a lump come up on her bum (now diagnosed as a another sarcoid unfortunately). Anyway we were standing in her stable and she was eating hay from the floor and everytime the golf ball bit on the eye came out it looked larger than the other one. It was normal when the golf ball bit was in if that makes sense. Thought i was imagining it but my sister also thought it looked larger than normal. By that evening it was normal again.
