Was cutting some matted and very smelly and smegy fur from my boys man area today and accidently cut his skin (small cut) by his man bits. He did not complain, bless him and i feel so bad.

have put on antibacterial powder and purple spray, also washed the area throughly. Can anyone think of anything else i can do apart from destroy the scissors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have also brought some sheath wash, but never washed it before, as told not too, due to destroying good and bad bacteria.

If your horse has smeggy fur then I would guess that he has always had his sheath cleaned in the past and therefore you need to continue. I am v against washing sheaths, but if that is what he is used to then you prob need to help the fellow out

Ooops! I would try and clip all the hair away from that area-then it will be easier to clean. I have to do this with my horse as his hair gets about 6 inches long in winter! Then you should find you dont have to wash it that often, I only do it once or twice during winter with a little warm water, it generally does the trick!

You want to get some vaseline on it, rub it in and after a minute or two the stuff will come off easily without any need for scissors. You might want some gloves on though as it is a messy method but works.
