Hi

We are just about to get an immature looking 4 year old WB gelding he has an awful lot of filling out to do and hopefully will grow into his head and neck!!!

My OH is horsey but struggles to see through the woolly ugly duckling stage so just wondered if you guys had any examples of your wb youngsters and what they turned out like.

He is fairly short coupled with a leg at each corner stamp so once he fills out and matures I think he will be lovely.

Thank you

are you on FB?

Check out mine and NMT's page-Diamonds in the rough Dressage and you will find pics of our 3yo Goofy, when he arrived back in Oct and how he looks now.

He's by Charmeur out of a Kennedy mare, still lots of growing and filling out to do but looking stronger and more mature daily :)

You can also show him the transformation of Fig, who whilst TB is virtually unrecognisable as the horse he was when he arrived! Good grub and correct work can change a horse so much as long as the skeletal conformation is correct :)

From 4 to 5 our warmblood went up a good 3" in rug length and also 3" height wise. He was a real compact stumpy thing when he was just shy of 4 but has filled out beautifully. Sorry I'm useless as photos.

I got mine at Rising 3, She looked loads nicer in the summer, and now just looks a mess again. Hoping she's gonna be a nice horse! She's by Glasgow van 't Merelsnest and out of a Ahorn mare, they both have amazing bloodlines on both sides so i'm hoping she will turn out nicer than the clumsy fluff ball i have stood in my stable at the min haha.

Her at just 3, when she looked nice through the summer (but still an odd body/head shape)

And her a week or so ago. Fluffy and growing again

Hopefully come summer she will look beautiful and a better shape :)

Roo is TB x ID, so the original 'warmblood'. He was also possibly the most ugly awkward looking baby possible but has most grown out of it. He's still got his conformational weakness' but not longer looks like he's made of charity shop left overs.

Our WB was advertised as 16.1 as per passport before she came over from Belgium. We saw her as 6 year old, and thought 16.1-2. Quite skinny, no top line at all. Since then she has put on the muscle and grown a good 2 inches. Thankfully she politely dips her head for you to put on/take off headcollars, bridles etc, although she can grow 6 inches when on danger spook alert.

Yes wow what a transformation. Goofy although not quite as chunky looks just as immature as our chap I will be more than pleased if he makes as much progress as yours in that short time. But I am in no big hurry he has been taken so slowly I don't want to over faze him. Plus he has not really been having hard feed.

My last horse H in Jan of her 4yo year. TBH this photo doesn't really show just how weedy she was. She was so narrow in front too

And as a June 6yo she is now quite broad too

My new girl L on the day I viewed her (Nov 3yo)

And last weekend already looking chunkier I think only 10 weeks later

laughed out loud at your description, but very apt, my wb mare is built like a tank and very opinionated
