Totally unexpected, it seems that I am getting my 17hh ex SJ'er back. OK, but nobody to ride him and tbh cannot afford another mouth to feed, shoe etc etc.

Suggestions please - he is a loverly person, will take a novice around 1.30 BUT he's 14 and I have only been offerd pittance money to sell him (I'm talking £500!!) as everyone knows that I don't really have the wherewithall to keep him.

Have tried local college but they say he would be super but they would want him taken home during holidays - not that easy to do.

Any suggestions welcomed and if by any chance there is a HHO'er in the SE needing a ned to SJ or hunt, do pm.

Aside from that, I'm too cheesed off to comment about what brought it all about, suffice to say when things go wrong the whole bleepin' world seems to fall in around you!

Why don't you try advertise him for loan on some of the local hunt websites?

He would have suited my OH to hunt, but we've literally just this week found a similar sounding horse to loan.

£500!! what cheeky so and so offered you that, yes he's 14 but that's not old and he could certainly fetch a decent price at that age if he's fit and sound for a job.

Anyway, hope you get sorted and find a nice home for him.

Only £500?! No joke, I'd pay 1 - 2k for him, never mind him being 14.
There are horses out there still competing high level shows at 19 - check out Midnight Dazzler at Badminton.

Get him loaned through word of mouth, get adverts on Facebook equine group etc. You'll soon shift him to someone suitable. I'd have him in a heartbeat if I was closer!

Advertise loan quick smart, providing fit and well then there would be plenty of ppl wishing to loan... As for the offer of 500; that's crackers!!! I wish u all the best it's such a hideous time when it happens so sudden x

advertise to loan or share!! you can keep him at your place but the new loaner would pay you livery fees and othere general coast obviously. that way he will be making you a little money as well!

My mare is 17 had a tendon injury in the past but I would pay thousands for her despite her age, she is perfect for me and has brought my riding on to levels I would have never imagined. 14 is no age at all! Good luck!
