Looking for something to BE but on a bit of a budget so cannot go over £3000 but might stretch a little if ideal horse

I was thinking of getting a 5-8 y/o and progress with it and take it up the levels but what do i look for in a horse.
I want some thing with a bit of TB in for the speed etc...and i'd ask all the usual questions, any injuries, why is it for sale etc...
So i look for scope? Temperment?

Thanks
(:

even if you are very specific in what you want i would ask little questions like hacking, farrier, how it is to worm, load in a trailer and lorry, how it is with children, dogs and other horses, how stressy is it, does it get excited when out at a show, how it is to lead, how high it has ever jumped, if you could possibly see it free schooled over a jump

hmm that was probably useless but thats the kinds of things i would ask even if they are all on the advert always ask again they cant fit every little detail like they spook at bins on an advert so always ask :) good luck!

For your budget you are not likely to find a horse that has much of a competition record so most important imo is it a nice horse, you have to ride it and look after it so temperament is very important.
If you want to event it must show a safe jump, it may be green but must lift in front, the rest can be worked on. There was a thread not long ago in CR about what to look for in a green horse when jumping.
An ex racer would be worth looking at if you look for one that is maybe too slow rather than retired through injury.
Find out as much as you can about the horse and try it, if you can, with your instructor or someone experienced with young horses. A video taken when you try is good so you can take your time making a decision.

SM- i have just made a list of all the things you have said- thank you :)

BP- the instructor will be coming with me, or ill end up coming back with a knacker that i felt sorry for. & thanks for the video tip, good idea!

Ad CnG on fb, they have lots of lovely horses at reasonable prices and many of them have/could event, i've heard only good things about them
