Am at a loss!

The first weekend for years I do not have a 4 legged friend to look after.

My horse is in hospital recovering from a tie back and hobday, ( all going well so far ), and at a loss what todo.

Well most people do not have horses so my question is what do they do?

Glad your horse is recovering well!

This is my first weekend since putting His Lordship on part livery, and I have to admit it's rather strange!

I had a proper lie-in yesterday for the first time in over a year, which was blissful! Then went and patted the pony, bought some feed then came home and slobbed around (avoiding revision), popped back up to the yard to groom, attempt to sort out stupid mudfever, then home for more mooching around.

Have forced myself to revise today though, boo and hiss!

I'm missing mucking out, making feeds etc etc and miss spending time with His Lordship, but have to pass my exams and don't have time to fit in work, study and the horse so don't have much choice! It's fine for now, but I'll be incredibly bored when not studying.

Don't have a horse yet! but every Saturday morning I go to the riding schools where I help out then have Sunday as my rest day as I work 9-3 M-F.
Every other Sunday morning I take my two boys to their riding lesson!
So my weekends tend to be filled with doing horsey stuff and I love it!

I expect they probably lie in bed all morning, then get up and have a leisurely bath, followed by lengthy breakfast reading all of the papers. Then they might meet friends for a walk and a trip to the pub, before going home to sit by the fire watching a good film before eating a delicious sunday late lunch which they have had time to lovingly prepare. Hmmmm - sounds really tempting doesn't it?!

mother_hen - I think you're right! People at work are always telling me how much ironing they got done at the weekend, so I think this is their main activity! They also hoover, almost daily I believe and I think they also garden their actual garden and not just poo pick and ragwort dig!!
OP- try ironing..tell us how you get on!!

Ive had nothing to do in the weekends for the past month, and have another month to go!!

My horse is out on his holidays, and so not a lot to do really, sometimes i go hacking with YO or go help out at old schools showjumping, or horror of horrors go shopping

I dont know how people go shopping on saturdays

I've had this today cos my boy is away for backing...he went yesterday. Had a long lazy morning watching the puissance from hoys that i recorded last night....then a catch up on here....then braved the shops to look for some curtains! Never again will I go DIY/home shopping on a Sun afternoon-it was crazy!!!

their washing and ironing is up to date

[/ QUOTE ] Well, washing almost is, ironing - that would be the large pile of crumpled clothes in the spare room

and there may actually be some point to having a manicure or your hair done.

I did spend all day yesterday at college though and today I have been trying to do all the housework, washing, ironing etc that I don't have time to do during the week, along with attempting to do some studying.

would have loved to watch hoys would have been quite happy , and would have been no need to post this thread
except do not have sky sports extra.

How often does sky sports show equestrian sports!

and wahing and ironing is still a crumpled heap in the corner shouting at me!

Take up a cheaper sport (currently cycling and running)!

For the first few horse-less weeks I wondered the same thing, i remember sitting in the car at 11am one Sunday thinking, oh god, still 11 hours until i can go to bed! Seriously depressing.
But now i do the food shopping, wander round shops (still without money to buy clothes though), meet friends, watch a bit of TV and long for the winter when the days are shorter! How sad's that!!

My flatmate who had no hobbies, used to plan her weekend on driving to Tesco and doing her weekly shop. Very occasionally a friend from home would visit her and they would drive out somewhere to a park or a castle to visit. This was a real highlight though.

Pretty manic usually. Spend most weekends with my boyfriend, hanging out at his, doing things we need to do in town [any shopping/banking etc], go out to lunch or dinner, go to the cinema, have lie ins, that sort of thing. I also try to use the weekends to catch up with friends, as I don't really have time in the week with work. Usually there aren't enough hours in the day!

Well, after my accident I had sooo much free time on my hands I was bored to death. Eventually (it took about 2 weeks) I managed to think beyond horses (it was very difficult) and I started painting again and even learnt how to make pitta bread, paté and hoummous.
