Would have thought he might have a decent base for eventing being by Cor de la Bryere and out of a Ladykiller/Roland mare but wondered if anyone had any other info on him or opinions.

I love him! He's one of my favourite stallions

Not owned anything by him YET but i know a couple of his babies and they are soooo laid back, great temperaments and fabulous jumpers. I will definately use him in the future.

As PrincessDana said, his stock are very trainable and rideable with laid back temperaments, and they can jump. The Corland stock tend to come into themselves as they get older. Would not put him onto too heavy a type of mare either.

IMO I personally would not choose him for producing an eventer, unless the mare was by him and you were crossing back onto something with more TB blood in. Or a TB bloody type mare going onto him.

I would definately use him if I was just looking at a showjumper, but not necessarily an eventer.

My personal opinion is Corland is a wonderful stallion.... highly biased because our Cordy is by him

She is out of a KWPN mare Ahorn/Doruto... Obviously she show jumps and she has seen cross country fences, eats the ground in canter and gallop and em_bee has turned her flatwork from dire to fab, I have had alot of people want to take her eventing but its not something I want her to do, although I think she would be great at it

Indeed Corlands son, 'Sir Corland' ( anyone know anything about him?) produced a few of the BYEH and PAVO finalists in the young event horse classes last year.

I too think he is smashing and would like to use him myself to produce an eventer one day.

Either him, or Champion Du Lys, who also has a lot of TB in him.

A Corland mare foaled 2 days ago where we are based, she is a stunning Chestnut mare, i have only known her a broodmare but cant fault her. Her filly is very smart and by Caretino Glory. Will try and get some pictures for you when it stops raining!

You can get further information on Sir Corland here:

Wout-Jan van der Schans is the rider of Sir Corland and he is a very successful jumping stallion.

Having seen Corland and Sir Corland in the flesh I would say that the son is a more lighter weight stallion than the sire, hence my comments above.

Wd love to see pics, springfallstud, as we have a Caretino Glory yearling, shaping up to be a very nice eventing type, out of a 7/8ths TB ISH mare ..... who we are considering Corland for next year, so lots of links!! And talking of Caretino Glory, has anyone seen the youngster that Ann Burnett bred by him out of The Tourmaline Rose? Must be a 2 or 3 year old now??

Thank you for that A !! He sounds lovely in his write-up, and has obviously done very well, but its a bit of a shame about his conformation tho, as I prefer short backed and butty horses, like Corland himself, but you are right, he is a bit heavy....

No probs OB, I do like Sir Corland, seen him jumping in Den Bosch the last couple of years, plus you can get up "close and personal" to the stallions out the back. Corland onto something with more TB blood would give you a good cross for an eventer perhaps, but nothing too heavy...but again just my own opinion... plus am no expert on eventers...

I like Corland

I used a young stallion by him on my TB mare the result was my now 3yr , who as you can see is very much TB in looks( 3rd pic in siggy) the young stallion is now a Gelding and will be 7, and I have heard he is now eventing

Thanks for that guys!! I do really like him and as Rufus Blue Moon said, we think he could well suit our grey ¾ bred mare as she has already had a cracking event type yearling. Also think he could well suit our Beachtime mare as she is very much a dual purpose type mare in that she could easily excel at SJ but also eventing and her first foal is very very fine so could indeed cross well with Corland.

I do like the look of Sir Corland but as others have said I do think he is a bit long backed and beth is also slightly long backed so maybe not a good combination….

Lots of food for thought though.

I have a mare by corland she is out of a nimmerdor mare she is just 15.3hh and very fine! She has a lovely temperament but is a little loopy when riding her at times, very careful. She came over from Holland to be sold on but I bought her and wouldn't sell her even though I could of sold her at least 10 times. We will breed from her when I decide to breed! Totally opposite to Presco S who is by him! You can see pics of her on
