...never been before!

what do people wear? (spectator) I take it there is a lot of walking? Is it true that it gets v v muddy?

It can get very muddy but if this weather continues there won't be any mud.

I normally wear jeans and a polo top and Dublin River boots. However this year if its nice weather I might consider a summer dress.

Pack for all weathers though. :)

Layers!

Badminton seems to be either cold and muddy, or dry and hot! Prepare for those eventualities and everything in between. Take a change of clothes too, nothing worse than having to drive home wet.

There is only as much walking as you want there to be. Some people stay around the trade area and simply watch the screens!

take layers with you and comfy boots and waterporoofs - given weather pack a t shirt and shorts but dont be decieved its a long day and the comfier the boots the better - just be prepared can always leave stuff in car and go back - thats what we always do :) just enjoy day - first time in years not going - gutted but there again im with my fella on a boat lol :) ENJOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Wellies/Dubarries/Tall country boots are a must!

I just normally wear jeans and a polo top (joules, totttie etc) if warm and have a jumper handy.
Also make sure you take a waterproof, it will probably rain, it always does!
If you have a nice tweedy coat that will look nice and you will fit right in :)

Cocktail dress and wellies :D

Only joking!!

Well you have two lots of people at Badminton:

The normal ones
Well they turn up looking just that, functional and comfortable!

The abnormal ones
They look like they are either competing (they arent) OR like they are auditioning for the Derby House catalogue!! They are in FULL make up,their hair is beautifully coifered, their jeans skin tight, their eyelashes fake and their nails perfectly manicured - and they scare the pap out of me!! :D hehe I'm only jealous!! :D

Whatever you want but pack a parka with lots of pockets for intermittent rain, a rucksack for the brolly, sandwiches and camera. Whatever you do - make sure your shoes/boots are super-comfy and well worn in. No flip-flops or walking sandals please...

Hipflask full of sherry - optional :D

Also, I saw loads of people wheeling granny-trolleys - brilliant idea!!! If the sun comes out, somewhere to put the parkas and/or tweeds/caps.

My car usually contains half my wardrobe... Essentials are sun tan lotion, waterproof trousers and a waterproof jacket. Wellies in car, usually wear walking boots though but bring trainers in case it's hot. Spare socks in case your feet get wet, gloves. Other than that, jeans and a top, lightweight fleece either on or in rucksack with food/drinks. If the current weather continues, I'm going to bring something long sleeved but light as I tend to burn to a frazzle unless I'm very careful.

I'd suggest bringing something you can carry drinks in. The food is far less overpriced than the drinks.

The general uniform seems to be Dubarries though.

Pahahahah!!!!!! Trying to catch the eye of the young hunt supporters club chaps out on patrol no doubt...

Small child in a backpack and a labrador for starters.....

No seriously, get there early! The traffic is a complete nightmare if you leave it too late - aim to get there for 9am and hit the burger van for breakfast! Walk round the shops first then hit the cross country.

Therefore, take layers - even if the weather is due to be like it is at the moment - take a fleece or something warm but light because you have to carry it around for the rest of the day! Think comfortable on the feet. If there is the slightest bit of rain the village can turn into a sea of mud so don't wear anything that means anything to you! It is pretty nippy there first thing in the morning! Take a little backpack if you have one and put some water, lipsalve, sunscreen and one of those roll up picnic blankets if you have one because it is really good to walk your feet off round the course and then collapse in the middle of the food village because it has a MASSIVE screen you can watch while you eat some late lunch/tea while the last of the horses finish.

Oh and a shooting stick with a seat thing is good too - last year the HSBC were giving them away to those that could show their cards! Go early though because they ran out quick!

Well if you're really cool you wear clean white breeches and long boots, just so that everyone there can identify you as a horse rider, and in case one of the pros has an accident and needs a substitute rider you'll be ready to leap on ;)

Just kidding!

Usually I wear jeans, comfortable but sturdy boots or wellies [though if it stays this dry then probably trainers], and comfortable clothes - always a decent jumper or jacket even if its warm as its a long day and if the wind gets up or the sun goes in it can get pretty chilly!

Jeans and trainers unless it is wet then boots. I dont possess any Dubarry's so wellies it is! LOL! Actually muckers to be precise.

I always take a coat and as other people have said, layers. A sweat shirt id good as you can easily take it off if it is warm. I try not to take a big bag though as it saves me money. ;)

Well.If you want to be in the 'in' crowd then it's white jeans,Dubarry boots,Barbour tweed jacket and a fricking great big fur lined hat with a rock of a diamond on the wedding finger.

This year i will be mostly wearing jeans, polo shirt and Harry hall short boots. And a Pacamac just incase.
