Wont eat breakfast , took one mouthful and walked away (really unlike him!) swished his tail a little and one hind leg came up (like they do in summer to get flies away) . Then laid down in the field, not flat out but sat up.

Called vet, in mean time, wondering what your thoughts are?

Ps - he is an old chap :-(

Colic. Don't want to worry you but that was exactly how my boy was the morning of the day I lost him to colic. I got the vet straight out but wasn't too worried at the time as he'd had the same two years before and it passed. But it turned out a 7 foot length pf his intestine had slipped through a membrane near his diaphagm. He was operated on but didn't stand up afterwards. He didn't seem that distressed, even once we got him to rossdales. None of the sweating, rolling and pacing. Just wouldn't eat, kept looking at his belly and calmly lying down. :(
