I'm having a pivate lesson tomorow and was wondering if you thought what i am going to try and work on is good/what we should be doing now?

For the first 30mins i would like to try and get him working from his back end and me sitting up straight....and I'd also like to wok on him not grabbing the reins out of my hands because he thinks he has finished!!! Oh and i've got to look up!

pictures of us schooling: these are about a month old and have now changed his bit and he doesn't over bend anymore!!

here is the video of us schooling : its got us schooling in the middle

Then for the 2nd half i would like to try and jump a course of jumps because i am not able to do that at home and feel as though i have the oppertunity to do that in a private lesson

Can you see anything we need to improve on?

What do you think? Is what i want to do reasonable? Any ideas of what we can do to improve our partnership? Should i change what i want to do? Should i just concerntrate on one thing? If so which one? I would really like to jump a course of jumps!!!

Do you think he would make a good eventer, or showjumper or a dressage pony?! sorry would like to know so that i can then concerntrate on that other than having the others aswell

He is quite bold out on a hack, will jump all the logs i put him in front off, ditches and will now go into water happily!!

Hi

I think your horse moves nicely in the video. I would say the bit of the main problem, it is severe to school in a pelham with roundings but as you have said you have changed the bit (hopefully to a snaffle) you will be well on your way to getting him collected and connected.

It will take time for him to develop the muscles etc but he is a very nice horse and looks very willing so I know you will do well!

Have fun in your lesson!

thanks...i know its severe but he was always ridden in that and i didn't have the experience to change his bit, didn't know what would wok and what wouldn't, So just recently have started to change his tack, bit..etc with the help of new instructor!!. I have put a waterford in because he didn't go well in the snaffle i have (d-ing with copper rollers). I'm going to ask my instructor what she thinks of him in the new bit and see if we need to change it again!

thankyou

He is a really lovely horse, with super movement. I wouldn't worry too much about specialising at this stage, he could do any job. Have fun in your lesson and don't worry about trying to scheive too much. It might be fun to have a pop round a small course at the end, but you have identified that he eeds to be working mor correctly on the flat so I would just focus onthat for now.
I would try and get a plain/french link snaffle, he looks like he's trying to avoid the bit, which could mean that he would like something kinder in his mouth, and he's very on the forehand and unbalanced, both of which can make a horse very strong in the hand.
