No offence taken at all. He's the sweetest little pony but like you said has been showing twice and clear round jumping?! I just don't think i'd be able to justify spending £4500 on a pony with no record!
Very sweet, and would do well in the show ring, but I would NEVER pay over £4k for a pony with NO record!!
The chances are the pony will be for a child to enjoy, and once that child hits his or hers teens, the pony will be too small!!!
I would say a fairer price would be £2500, she'd still be walking away with £2000 in her pocket.
Its rare you ever make profit with horse, as from the day you bring them home, they cost you money (livery, feed, hay, feet, jabs etc) so once you add that all up, your lucky if you have any TRUE profit left!!!!
I'm sure she's thrilled you've told everyone what she paid.
Presumably this was quite a 'project' as originally so cheap, and if the pony is going well now, she deserves a decent return for her hard work.
A horse is worth whatever somone will pay for it. She can always drop the price if there's no interest, she may be falling victim to wishful thinking there, true, but I think it's unkind to call this greed.
