Nice but the heart murmur would put me of BIG time .
Can you definitely say you never want to do xc or hunt ?

What she says.
The heart murmur would put me off as I know I wouldn't want to stick to a quiet life.

See, now mils has a heart murmur which was discovered by accident and its never affected her so far (and she had a baby) So- basing it on this alone and DEPENDANT on what level the heart murmur was it wouldnt bother me.

I dislike XC and hunting scares me, however it seems SJ is fine.. she said i can see the full vet report regarding the heart murmur. However, i just want to know the level of it first.

Also: I wont be doing any big affiliated stuff- low level fun comps/RC activities is my 'thang'

depends what you want... i wouldn't be happy worrying about the possibly of it dropping dead at any point! i am assuming it is quite a severe heart murmur as they have said not to xc etc as i know some with slight murmurs who event at Intermediate + and the vet's are happy.

i really like the Primitive Rising chestnut gelding a few horses down on the same page though!

A mild murmur wouldn't put me off , but as you said Mils has a murmur and did your vet / vet that found it say not to do XC /hunt ? The wording of the ad makes it sound serious

He looks lovely and a good price. As long as you're happy knowing he won't be going hunting/xc then I don't see a problem regarding the murmur.

Hmm, you bring up a valid point! Mils vet just said she'd never make it around badminton not that she'd not to xc or hunting.. hmmm

I'd ring and find out how serious the murmur is .
He looks like a nice chap but if the murmur is serious enough to mean he can't do 'fast' work , I'd walk away ....

I really like the look of him but the heart murmur would worry me a bit, I think I would always be worrying about over doing it with him.

It Would definitely be worth getting your vet to look at him or the Vets report if that is possible to see what they think. You also have to think about how easy he would be to sell on if you ever needed to.

Depends totally on what a vet says about the murmur, and whether you want to risk it. Many horses have these and it doesn't affect them seriously. The wording on the ad does make it seem serious though.

Whats the difference to the horses heart between xc and a fun fast hack with your friends? I'd be worried about cantering in a group or going on fun rides. I'd say if it was your horse already you'd learn to live with it but if you're buying there are plenty of horses out there that don't have heart murmurs.

Wouldn't worry about it in the slightest if he was going to be a pleasure horse. To me, it just sounds like a horse who was bought for eventing/hunting who can't do this job anymore without risk of shortening his life.

I know that the breeders want him to go to a good home and not be stressed, but they're taking a big chance that he's not bought by someone with fewer morals who brings him on for a few weeks and then sells him at a big profit.

If you really like him, take a look at the vets report/speak to the vet about what you can do with him. If he can safely do all the activities you want then go for it.

I like him,not just because he is like a fine carbon copy of my neddy, but they have been honest and that means a great deal to me when buying a horse. I'd rather its problems be a known quantity. Forewarned is forearmed and all that.
I think you should call for a chat.

I really like him, but personally I wouldn't buy him.
I'd rather pay a bit more for something similar without the heart probs.
T'is a good time to be finding a nice bargain out there

Yep, a lot of murmurs out there that go undetected forever or are only detected by accident due to something unrelated and have neverand never will cause a problem.
Read the vet report, have your vet lok at it and explain it.
Ask their opinion...I bet for what you want from the sounds of it they will say go for it!

I know it would not concern me if all i wanted was a hack and "fun" horse.... now if I was intending to ride 3*** or above.....

id find out what level and type of murmur he has and how that would affect him before id consider him..and id advise gettin yuor own vet to check him out to.....but he does look nice...and murmurs are fairly common in horses...

HM's are graded and lots of horses have a low grade HM that the owners are not even aware of. He seems a really nice chap so I would ring and find out how bad it is before making a decision. I would guess that if they have advertised the fact and selling at a low price that it may be a fairly high grade
