I posted a while ago about wanting to give showing a go and have been having a look around for a show cob but they are all a bit pricey for one ready to go. So i have been looking for one that will need some work and i found this chap...
Do we think he is show quality?? I must admit i'm in love. I know he needs some weight putting on but do you he could be a diamond in the rough?

You'll be risking it with the height....15.2 will be just over.

Seems a nice lad to be an all rounder, but just doesn't scream 'show cob' to me tbh at first glance, doesn't have the substance to him to my personal preference. His neck is set very high up and once bulked out, I don't think he'll have a goodlength of rein as he is quite 'short' across his top if that makes sense?


Sorry.... :s Not wishing to offend! Only putting my opinion across :) Just something about him that makes me really like him [his eye and head I think, he seems very kind] but wouldn't get him to be a sole show cob that's all. I'm sure he'd make a craking little all rounder cob x though :)

I'd say it depends on what level you are aiming at. For me he's a bit straight through the hocks and stands rather "goat on a rock" in front to expect him to do well at more than local level. Sorry!!!
 
Have to be measured in between 148cm - 155cm...so you would have to be very very careful with him to whether he'd be overheight, especially in a year when he'd have to be done for his life height cert...in which he'll have matured out a bit more and filled out a hell of a lot. So if even if they've just put down 15.2 as an approx with him and he's slightly under that height now, he'll more than probably be over when you come to measure him next year.

It's not done a stick either, it's very serious, done by laser and to the nearest fraction of a millimetre too, so you have to be extremely confident that he will measure in when you only have means of doing it on a stick at home.

Don't apologise, i wanted some thoughts from people who know about show types.
I would want to start from the bottom so i'm not looking for the next HOYS champ just something i could learn the ropes on and have a bit of fun while my hunters are sat in the field getting fat!!!
