Im currently feeding A+P calm n condition with mollichop bloom and just a leisure mix! Hes on quite good grass and ad-lib hayledge. Would you recommend i add/change any of the feeds? Also what oil could i add that will not make him fizzy?
Thanks

My TB is on A&P Calm & condition and Mollichaff calmer. I cut out mixes & cereals altogether as they just seemed to up set his tummy !

If you are happy with him weight/ condition wise I woudln't change anything

why do you want to change his feed? do you want more/less condition or is he fizzy etc?

my tb is on HiFi and hay- thats it!

when she is eventing she changes to haylage and gets D&H Staypower museli as well as Topspec but because i am broken she is on holiday and fat as a house on her hay and chaff diet!

My lad gets between 1 and 1 1/2 scoops of alpha oil in winter (depending on weather, condition, workload etc) and 1/2 a scoop of happy hoof in summer with seaweed for vits + minerals and magnesium for his feet. He's out 24/7 all year round with hay out in winter when needed.

If you're happy with his condition + energy levels atm I'd leave your feed as it is. Oil is slow-release energy so shouldn't make him fizzy but if you add it gradually you should notice any changes and can stop feeding it if necessary. Linseed oil and sunflower oil are both good IME.

Mine is currenty on half a scoop (very small half) of Spillers Happy Hooves- In the winter he will have about a scoop of the same twice a day!
He's cheap to keep!

Is there any reason you feed Calm and Condition AND the leisure mix? Why not choose the one that suits him best and feed that with just the addition of chaff?

How is your horse on his current diet? Too fizzy, just right, not enough weight, etc?

Not been on anything tbh since April time!

Usually is on #4 conditioning cubes, barley rings, sugarbeet and chaff though, maybe with a bit of comp mix when needed.

All mixed together:
Soaked speedibeet with Ride and Relax and a dollop of linseed oil, parsly and mint
Topspec Senior hifi balancer
Mollichop calmer
Additional calmer

Succulents: carrots and an occasional apple added when the mood takes
Adlib hay, plus A&P Hay substitute

at the moment she's on half scoop fibre cubes and about the same of Hi Fi Chaff but up until about a couple of weeks ago she just had a handful of each to take her biotin with
when the weather gets colder we're going to put her on Bailey's No 2 and Hi Fi Chaff and then add fibre beet when it is dead winter. She'll have ad-lib haylage when in and probably out in the field too.

She lost quite a bit of weight over winter last year, she was on fiibre cubes and hi fi lite with hay and fibre beet which is why we've gone for hi fi, the number 2 and the haylage.

Might add some pink powder too if she starts to wind suck, i hear haylage is more acidic

1 level round stubbs scoop of Alfa Oil, 1.5 soaked Speedi-Beet, 1 mug Ultimate balancer and 1 mug Omega Rice

Then the same again for dinner!

He eats mountains!

Thanks everyone! The reason I feed both is because I tried him to begin with on just the C+C and the chaff but did not take much interest so added the mix, now he eats like a greedy pig. I would ideally like him to have a little extra weight going into winter as I do not know how easily he will cope (not had him that long). Think I will add some oil to his feed.
Thanks again

A and P calm and condition plus fast fibre and super calm by global herbs.Cant feed dengie (whizzes her up)so she has ozzie chaff.

mine has been out on fairly lush grass 24/7 since may, he was fed on high fibre cubes and dengie hi fi lite, then recently a few weeks ago i changed him to top spec cool condition cubes and he has NAF pink powder too with hi fi lite. I do have to feed him a lot though, he has a whole scoop of the cool condition cubes and a whole scoop of hi fi lite ( i feed him this because he doesn't eat alfa a) and he has this twice a day. i must say he looks fab now though, actually starting to get fat, which he has never been before!

i used a+p calm and condition last winter and was quite impressed with it. mine is currently on a scoop of hifi original, half a scoop of nuts and alfa beet, flax oil and various drugs. He is slightly on the thin side but isnt in enough work to be fed high conditioning foods. hes on very nice grass and will be being fed adlib haylage as of the end of oct when he comes in off the field. he eats a HUGE amount. in the winter hel eat 4 large stuffed haynets a day and two huge bucket feeds.

Another for A&P Calm & Condition, made a huge improvement to a skinny TB mare I bought 6 weeks ago. Changed completely in such a short time!

Hi! My TB 8 yr old ex racer is having 1/2 scoop of A + P Quiet Cubes, 1/2 scoop Alpha A, garlic and Think Pink as balancer twice a day at the moment with ad lib hay in stable during day, out at night. He was skeletal when I bought him in Feb and was for a while a very expensive boy to feed with three feeds a day of Spillers conditioning cubes, alpha a oil, sugarbeet and NAF Pink powder. However, after lots of food, tlc and work, he is now quite a chunk so I am hoping that through the winter he will have 1 scoop quiet pencils, 1scoop alpha a and sugar beet twice a day through winter with adlib hay when in stable. Sadly we're not allowed to feed hay in field. Good luck with yours! I took the advice of my very experienced feed merchant, then once in work, the advice of my instructor and seems to be working so far

Out at night on grass, comes in during the day and gets ad lib hay and haylage.
Feedwise he gets 1/4 scoop alfalfa pellets 1/4 scoop Coolstance copra, handful of micronised linseed for breakfast and dinner with minerals and supplements.

My mare is on Saracen Veteran mix which is high oil and non heating, Saracen Equijewel (for a month as she has dropped weight), Dengie Alfa A, speedy beat.

My tb is still out at grass 24/7 and has been since March. Currently feeding twice a day to fatten him up for winter, as he is a poor doer and I would like him to live out for as long as possible. He is on 1.5 scoops of baileys no 17 and 1 scoop of mollichaff showshine and a good glug of oil during the winter months. I try to avoid any sugar as much as possible, as I find that he can go a bit loopy. He gets adlib hay when needed. Veg oil is great for fattening up and brings out a great shine on the coat, just introduce it gradually. If you are having problems introducing other feeds then add apple juice to his feed and you will find that they will eat it.
