Going on from another thread, (I think the majority know which one).

I thought it would be a good idea to see what people actually take with them when they go out hacking.

Starting off:

Of course MOBILE PHONE (when I blinking remember to grab it)
Spare lead rope attached to saddle
Fold up hoof pick in pocket
£5 always in my jacket (you never know)
Long whip for making sure cars keep their distance (not for use on horse)
HI-VIS road work or not

Or maybe there is some hints or tips that you could share which you do while out hacking?

As above (OP) except the hoof pick (should do really as have to use fingers to dig out stones) and don't have the leadrope but do have a neck strap which is an old rein and can be used at a push :)

1. Mobile phone (even if I'm not hacking! I always have it on me at all times at the yard! Sits nicely in my joddy pocket.)
2. Hi Viz
3. Long whip

Have never thought about taking money/change or a lead rope... may consider these from now on!!

well..

mobile phone

tags on saddle with contact numbers of myself and a.n.other who could help with horse if I am out of action

tag on me with my medical info / contacts in case I am unconscious

whistle ( if I am going off road) ... well it came with the lanyard for the tag ;)

hoofpick

first aid kit .... suit human and equine

piece of twine

money ( well especially in summer I might stop at a shop for an ice cream) :D

water bottle drink for me ( can you tell yet we do loooong hacks )

If we did not have a bitless bridle I would take a headcollar and lead rope to let beastie have grass to eat and chill.

If we have children along I take a lead rope anyway just in case ;)

If it is a looong hack and its autumn or spring I have also been known to take our leg lights too ( red to rear and white in front) jus tin case. Got caught out in the dark on one memorable hack with some kids and sooooooooooooooooooo glad I had taken it ;)

Until I lost it I had one of them multi tools too :D

I dont carry my HiViz - I wear mine ;)
Likewise Fuzzy wears tag with yard postcode & DH's number on it.

In my pockets I have mobile on one 1 side & ciggys/lighter in the other side (in case I stop at the farm for a cuppa at the end of milking)

If going further afield from the norm, I might take a bum bag with a few bits & bobs in, but otherwise, I'm never not far from various yards to beg/borrow/steal in emergencies :)

Always my mobile, even if just hacking around the farm, really must get some tags for the saddles though, on the farm everyone would recognise my horses but not out hacking locally.

I always carry the mobile phone, and in the days before they were invented I used to carry a 10p piece in case I needed to phone home :) I also usually carry my penknife, lighter and tobacco tin, tissues and horse treats.

Mobile, hoof pick, hi vis, and my trusty Satmap - we like to go exploring so can plot routes to try and means we never get lost. Also great for recording distance, altitude, average speed, top speed and other geeky stats like that :D

High viz, phone and a whip. Also mum knows where we're going, what the plan is (ie if we're jumping the hunt jumps/ cantering) and when we'll be back. That way, she knows where we are/ where to find us splatted on the road! On our phones we have ICE just in case.

I wear Hi viz, so does my horse.
Don't carry a mobile, they don't work round here. :(
ID tag on me and horse if going further afield, otherwise everyone knows both of us so would return us home if either of us were lost.
That's about it.
