Hello again,

I am a design student currently working for a company designing equestrian products...and I need your help! I recently posted a link to a survey on UK horse-riders (here’s the link, please help me out and fill one in if you haven’t already… thanks! http://FreeOnlineSurveys.com/rendersurvey.asp?sid=frw3z96000tuhuo464988 )

Thanks to everyone that filled that in for me. I am now working on a number of saddle bag designs and would appreciate it if you could answer a few more specific questions on what you carry etc – if you can spare two minutes it’d be a big help… Here’s the link, http://FreeOnlineSurveys.com/rendersurvey.asp?sid=ln93n37iq68pn72467817

Thanks in advance!

Mobile Phone - a must

Crop - would be handy to be able to put it somewhere if you don't want to carry it in your hand (hands can get sore and sweaty in this weather

Money - in case your having one of those 'pub rides'

Drink - for hot days, long rides....unless you do above

Handy pocket for things like hoof pick....pen knife...fags...lipsil..if you need to take off your horses boots etc

When we hack out we take a Walkie talkie but thats pretty specific to us and maybe some of the bigger treking establishments. Plus mobile phone, whip (usful for batting things out of the way and openin gates) Lipsalve is a must around here. High viz gear, money, hoof pick, a cloth is very usful for blood/sweat/tears! lol Wound powder can be usful too as is a hame strap (flash if your a rider) as its just infinitly usful. Oh and of course a drink

While saddle bags are useful for longer distance, for everyday hacking I wouldn't use them. & I definetly wouldn't put my phone in saddle bags. If me & hoss were seperated then he would have the phone and he struggles with the small buttons

What would be more useful is a hi viz vest with the handy pockets!

Baileyhoss you wicked thing! You can get those special phones with HUGE buttons you know - your ned might be able to press them easier? Seriously, be careful everyone about relying on various velcro etc things to hold your phone when riding. My pal had an arm one and had a nasty fall off her horse and landed hard on her back, where she couldn't move for the pain. The phone flew out of the holder and shot across the path and came to rest about 12 feet away. No way she could have reached it if she'd been on her own. I keep mine - along with any other essentials - in a bum bag.

I have a back pack with drinks for the kids, my mobile, snacks, hoof pick, leadrope...why so much? Cos I am walking for 5 or six hours when ever the kids hack out and its amazing how thirsty we all get, we hack where the ponies can drink from rivers or fords other wise I'd have to find another way to carry what I need lol! We don't do short hacks....how I wish we did!

mobile phone (normally in my pocket though) for longer rides i'll take a drink and a hoof pick... try not to carry too much had some nasty falls where things have caused additional injury but my boy doesnt like saddle bags!!!

I rode daughters pony today as i was bored and can't ride my boy( yearling ) and really miss riding since i lost my horse last year... Anyway i took nothing... No whip no phone no drink and no fags...Phone scares him when it rings he is whip shy and forgot drink...Did ride with friend who did have a phone though...

mobile, whip, and if riding in jeans or a coat fags and lighter !!

no need to carry hoof pick - plenty of sticks around for the same job

BTW Aldi have some great bags that go around your waist, with pockets and drink holders in!
Pink bag that goes around my shoulder thats from local tack shop; I fit a mobile phone in, antihistamines ( allergic to horse fly bites) plasters, hoof pick, anti septic wipes, ibuprofen, money, paper and pen!
Sorry couldn't get a cuddly toy in

Phone, whip, watch and sometimes GPS if I'm going on a longer ride.
Phone always attached to my person.

Carry loads more on an endurance ride, but let's no go there at the moment...

Mobile phone, keys (have to lock barn and field gate) ventolin, glucose and tissues.Oh, and Business Cards now, it's amazing how much business I pick up while out!! I have started using a bum bag.

Off topic, Fouganza, but can I congratulate the company I think you work for, and suggest they sell their fly masks in the UK. I got my fly masks from your Company and they are brilliant, horses wear them all the time, and are a bargain.
JC,
PS, I live in France and think I got them from Decathlon.
