Oh my god!
Had a few days off from the horses, my boss has covered everything at work and I have paid someone at the yard to do mine!

All I have done is clean the house and eat a lot, it has been nice to not worry but I would definitely be a 40 stone show home girl if I didn't have horses!

What do you do if you have a break from the horses?

Exactly the same as you! Not that I get a break that someone else covers, just don't ride that day, I'd be the size of the showhome!

Haha! I have the odd day where my friend will feed/rug change for me if I'm busy or fancy a day off doing them but I'd also be about 50 stone if I didn't have horses and didn't have a job where I have to walk a lot!

Sleep!

Wash my hair and put expensive smellies on as I know that will last longer then a few hours till I see the horse again.

Make time for my lovely other half and spoil him!

I only have time off from the horse if I go on holiday,so I am 'holidaying'! which I rarely do, did not have a holiday this year, I get my folks to babysit all the animals, they love staying at mine and animal sitting, we share anyway,I am baby sitting their dog as they are in Malta at the moment, works really well

I have a sharer Wed and Thursday and its nice to get home at 1730 rather than 1930/2000. I cook on those days or we eat out and go to the cinema etc ... Without my sharer things would be much more stressful at home :o

I had enforced time off from my boy for 6 weeks earlier this year when I broke my arm, he went to a friend which was great for him but I hated it. As I couldn't drive for the first 2 weeks I saw him about twice which was so hard, and because I couldn't do anything (I had a bad unstable break so had to be very careful), I felt like a spare part. Really hated not having the structure to my day, ate too much, got fat (still fat). By choice I would not have time off from him but sometimes you have to do family things.

I only have time off for holidays or outings after work. I live so close to the yard I can't justify time off when I know I could do all my jobs In less than an hour. So I make sure I have a fair few hols to get some well deserved horse free time. Next one is skiing for a week in Austria in January....can't wait!!

Usually enjoy the first day and after that miss him like crazy!
Went to Tenerife a couple of weeks ago- the OH was getting annoyed because I kept flicking through my pictures of Red!
Was back in the country 2 hrs and was already tacked up and ready for a hack! X

I had a couple of days away and it was lovely. Actually didn't miss the horses, but probably would over a longer period. When I had an op and couldn't drive or do anything for a month I was worrying the whole time about them though

I do all the things I don't have time to do when I'm running around after my horse!! Depending on what day it is, if I have a day off from horse I might go walking with the BF, I might cook something nice, might go out for coffee with a friend, go shopping. Quite often I just do the garden and/or clean the house properly.

I only tend to have the odd day off from horses here and there, just enough to get the above tasks done without stressing for time. When I have a proper holiday I usually make the most of it and escape to somewhere hot and sunny. This year I had a long weekend in Rome and a week in Spain, along with a week in Devon with the BF and we are off to Cornwall for a few days before Xmas too. I don't miss the horse at all and I'm sure he couldn't care less that I am not around! My YO will call me if there is a problem so I assume no news is good news, and just enjoy the time away :)

8 years ago I had 3 months between my old boy dying and finding my new one. One night after getting in from work at 4.30 and being totally bored by 5.15 I phoned my non-horsey sister to ask what I should be doing.

"Watch Neighbours" was her answer .

That's when I realised it was time to start the search for the new boy. She now has 2 kids so probably has even less time than me to watch telly.

I love a lie in when I've got a morning off from the horses and work (rare that both coincide). Normally it's if I'm visiting my in-laws which kills two birds with one stone as I don't have to spend so much time with them :D

When I've caught up with the domestics, i walk the dog or indulge in my other big passion, photography. I tend to take pics of everything except horses and am especially keen on doing close up and macro shots of flowers etc. A bit nerdy i know, but it keeps me out of mischief.

i don't! i still have evenings with the OH where we collapse on the sofa and just eat and watch tv. on rare occasions my friend will bring in my horses, if i go to one of my parents in London for lunch at this time of year, as by the time i'm back it is dark. my friend keeps saying if you want to go away on holiday it is no trouble doing my 2, as i do hers every afternoon in the week day and have done hers when she is on holiday. but to be honest my OH and i are too busy to go away and too broke!
i don't really do lie ins as my body clock is so used to getting up early, as i have a 2 yo GSD who is always raring to go and a cat who wants breakfast!
even when i just miss a morning or an evening with the horses i feel very weird! yes there are some mornings it is freezing and dark and bed feels too warm, but that's life!
i last went on holiday 2 summers ago, for a week in Italy, i enjoyed relaxing by the pool for about 3 days, then started to get bored and missed my horses (yes i'm that sad!)
