your farrier doesn't turn up and then does a moonlight flit??

My horse lost a shoe last week - farrier was scheduled to come on Saturday but didn't turn up...didn't answer calls/texts/answer machine messages so now I'm stuck.

Contacted another farrier who then said they would fit me in the next day - they also didn't turn up - then refused to answer calls/messages.

I'm starting to think its me!

I have contacted no less than 15 other farriers this morning and left messages - most of the numbers were from horsey friends and I've run out of people to ask. Have tried all the ones listed on any search I can find online and same story of not answering the phones/messages.

So what do I do? She desperately needs her remaining shoe removed and a trim. Is this something the vets can do??

Hopefully, one of the farriers will contact you by this evening, if not, if you're on a livery yard, ask a farrier who's booked to come to the yard for another horse, or walk/box him to another yard perhaps.

When I moved to a new yard I had the same problem with no one replying to messages or texts. I thought it was me too :) I just re contacted a couple of them that had been recommended and persistence paid off. They were just busy and a bit absent minded so needed a bit of extra prompting.
Good luck in getting a response soon.

Second what MerrySherry said if it were me id ask around the other liveries to find out when they have the farrier coming then make sure your there when they do come and try and get them to do it. I have had this problem on more thn one occasion farriers are notoriously hard to get ahold of but do persist with a few of the well recommended ones and im sure youll manage to get in contact with one of them :)
