Okay, I'm getting a bit ahead of myself as I haven't bought my coloured ponio yet BUT I do have the go ahead :D and friend won't sell to anyone but me now (except she's got to keep him with her till next spring now as my 2nd field won't be ready until then)

However, what do you all do with your 4 yo cobs?? Currently (well up until it snowed :/) I was hacking him out for a steady hack for about an hour, 2 - 3x a week. I'm conscious that he won't mature until 7 so want to do right by him :)

My 4yr in Apr, is still on his break from August When weather permits he will be brought back into work. 2/3 days hacking and 1 day school work to start with, working towards some pleasure rides for the summer/autumn. He will also be off to summer camp and have regular lessons clinics.

My 4 yro is ridden everyday as He can be fizzy if left a day we do hacking/schooling, he's a thoroughbred so has done his maturing really, he's 5 in summer so practically 5!

I bought my 4 year old cob last feb. I think she was asked to do too much too soon as she refused to move in the school with her last owners.

We just did lots of hacking before going in the school once a week, to a few small shows over the summer and a mini jumping clinic once a month.

She's now having the winter just hacking at weekends - I'm noticing she's starting to really fill out - which I think us partly due to just having the time to grow up.

In the spring ill start a bit of schooling again.

My girl is 5 in May. She gets ridden four or five times a week when work allows, with an hour's lesson every couple of weeks. We've done two dressage tests and have started baby jumping. I've had her nearly four years and she will stay with me til one of us leaves this earth so I'm not in a hurry to do too much and risk blowing her mind.
She is turning out to be more talented than I am though...!:D

My rising 5 year old Hanoverian, was backed last summer as 4.5 year old, ridden away briefly mainly light hacking walk/trot and now on a winter break since Sept. Just starting ground work/lunging before snow with view to rebacking and cracking on in Spring.

I've been doing a fair bit of schooling the past 3mths, lateral work etc, she is going great off my leg now:) so have started lots and lots of pole work to work on her seeing her stride and we are off out to compete @ a 60 and 70cms course at a training show next wk and doing our first dressage test 2wks after that - I tend to mix up her work to as not to bore her and keep schooling sessions short and concise - not as much faffing about as I used to do!

Mine is 4 in Jun and will be started then, feel same as Tallulah, I am happy to take it slow and enjoy every step of the process.

Well technically mine is 5 but not til July.

She's on a holiday at the moment but before then she was hacked a couple times a week. She'll come back into work after the snow/ice has gone, and will hack out a couple times a week.
