Just woundering what everyone does with their old rugs? I have a few that I was going to bin but didn't know if anyone makes use of them. they are ripped so could only be used for spares

I have to keep my hay and straw outside as no storage for it and my local farmer just delivers when i need it so i use my old rugs to throw over the top of the bales stops them getting wet and in the bad winter we have had to stop them getting covered in frost and snow

I just cut any odds and ends off that I can use for repairs in the future. Buckles etc, a square or two of fabric is handy too for rug wreckers!

I take mine home and drop them off with my Mum who then washes and fixes them for the next time the pony decides to rip it :)

Thanks guys,

Will take the straps off etc and keep just incase. They are beyond repair as last winter was my welshies 1st winter with me and he was quite unsettled, so took it out on my haffy. went through about 6 rugs!!
Thankfully hes been fine this year

Warrior is still wearing his (hangs head in shame!) as haven't got any spare pennies whatsoever at the moment to get him a new one! He doesn't seem to mind and I think he likes showing off his "manly" chest!

I put them on the horse on TOP of the good rug. Then the rug ripper in my field can rip the old tatty one to his hearts content and my shiny new ones stays intact!
