My mare has recently been diagnosed with High ringbone of the short Pastern, Sidebones and DJD.
Although it was a shock, with cortisone injections, bute, a good supplement and good management she seems perfectly happy now
My question is in the title, She is a full TB so quite highly strung. She is on 1/2 scoop of Hifi good doer twice daily for supplements, 12 hours soaked hay and restricted turnout due to needing to lose a few pounds before the spring grass comes to avoid the pressure it may put on her joints!! (vets advice)
The problem I have is that she has far too much energy!! She is on an exercise regime from the vet, but until we move yards in 3 weeks time (very restricted hacking at current yard, hence move) I can't really start her on this, and she is about ready to blow!! She has been galloping around the field like nobodies business, and the once a week hacks she has been getting she has been quite forward to say the least!
I am hoping that she soons settles to a life of a happy hacker!!
But I was wondering how much we can do once she is back in work and sound again? The vet has advised minimal which I will be following but as you all know, sometimes us owners know better when it comes to our horses
Could all you horse owners with ringbone horses please tell me what you do with your horses to keep them ticking over??
Thanks in advance
