in the process of trailer hunting, we're going for the new Ifor williams, talking about it last night and i said the tack.would need to go in the car...cue a horrified boyfriend - no way says he aaargh! so rather than shell out £200+ on a tack box is there anything else we can do? honestly boys are daft!!

My trailer has a tack locker, so mostly in there. Some bits might go in the car. Whats wrong with tack in the car? :D Put it in tack bags if it keeps him happy :)

Mine just goes on the boot when we travel (in my rather scruffy 4x4). My OH is the same though about his precious car, if I take his car to buy a bag of feed I have to put a sheet down in the boot and then drive home with the windows open after I've dropped it off at the yard to get rid of the smell! And he's a farmers son!!! :D

How many horses are you trailering?

If its just one and you leave the partition in, you can use bungee cord to secure a box/trunk thingie on the spare side.

go for a dreaded equitrek which has the basic section at front - I love mine and permanently living in there is .... travel rug, lightweight rug with neck, 3 numnahs, 3 bits, headcollar, 3 coats, gillet, brushing boots, spare clothes etc. Ironically when I travel, saddle and bridle go on back seat (car is cleaned each week)but you could put them in front section. There is also a tack locker which houses my grooming kit, water, bucket, fire extinguisher and dustpan and brush for picking poo out of trailer !
