There is a lady on the same yard as me that is Grass only livery however the YO has told her today to stop tying her horse up in the inside barn while she tacks up as there are plenty of rings on the outside wall for to use.
She moved her horse but I thought this was a bit harsh as it must be hard to tack up etc in the wind and rain, I mean she was only using the indoor barn for shelter, it's not as if she used a stable!

Apparently she also has to pay to use the school (£2.50 for an hour) where as its included in the price for liveries on DIY and above

Basically she pays £12 a week for a field...that's it, just a field. I mean it's a good field with shelter and good grazing. She looks after it really well.

What do you get included for your grass livery?

I've never really spoken to this woman before, not for any other reason than she's never really around when I am but I made the effort today and even offered to make her a brew...she declined as she must have heard that my tea tastes horrible ;)

I am on grass livery, get 2 fields, 1 shelter, shed, water. That's all i expect. we get use of an outside school in evenings and weekends via booking it. yard is a working yard so unless booked slot for vet etc not allowed on there.

If you are grass livery you acept the wind and rain. It is part of it

Grass and water - and I agree if you are on grass livery then your unfortunatly left out in the cold - its called getting what you pay for.... you don't book a bed for the night and then expect free breakfast and evening meal do you? and if your on grass livery I think you should pay extra to use the facilities - why should the folk on livery pay your share too ?

i offer grass livery and they get just that.
a field full of grass and they use the yard to tack up and feed if needed.
i wouldnt be too pleased if they were using the barn or a stable when they bring in their horse to feed or ride.

I must be very lucky, I am on grass livery but my colt gets brought in if too wet/cold and goes in a large pen with 2 other colts (all around 8 months old) and in that case I am charged an extra few ££ for hay and straw but others on grass livery also have use of the school. I bring my boy in to groom him and YO has no problems with this.

Field , fence , water, shelter if lucky I would not expect to tie up inside or get use of school for less than £2 a day.

When mine were on grass livery we had

Field
Water
Fencing maintained (in a fashion!)
Tackroom
Tie up area
Hay in winter (well, some)
£2 per 30 minutes to use appalling school

But...I paid more than double £12pw.

90% of the horses on that yard were on GL - it was a place with only 8 - 10 stables but lot and lots of acreage..

When mine were on grass 15 a week for field water shelter and all yard facilities were in the price. That included school jumping field xc field and off road tracks to ride on

I used to be on diy £25 quid a week and we had to pay £3.50 per 30 mins to use the school EACH - so if 3 went in you all had to pay £3.50 and only had a fraction of the school to ride in.
