A nosey post really, but what do you that own TBxID's feed them? I'm used to bad doing TB's but my lad seems to be doing well with being fed ad lib hay and Top Spec (must be the irish draft in him)!

My veteran ISH (16.3hh) is on 2 small feeds a day of Allen & Page Veteran Vitality with a small scoop of locust bean (carob) a handful of chaff, a couple of carrots and her Pernamax and mag oxide and ad lib haylage. Her weight is pretty perfect, she is in light work and she is grazed on a sort of paradise paddocks system where she has to wander a perimeter path on a hill to her grazing with water and haylage at different locations over 5 acres.

My sports horse (idxtb possibly) has the following:

1 1/2 scoops of hi fi original with apple
a dribble of soya oil
1 scoop of dengie lesiure vits
Couple of carrots

He has this morning and night and looks pretty good on it! He has the oil as he became really scurffy and its done the trick! He currently lives out 24/7.

My boy is more of the chunky sports horse variety and fairly hardy. Although, he dropped off a little in Dec so i upped his hi fi and its done the trick!

Really it has more to do with their temperament and the work they do rather than their breed!

We have a 17.1 who is half ID by an eventing stallion (so lots of TB) and he is on condition cubes, soaked grass nuts and adlib haylage. But he hunts most weekends so needs plenty of grub to keep the weight on.

Mine lives out 24/7 and gets one feed a day which is half scoop fast fibre, scoop plain oat chaff and formula for feet. She gets one or two slices of hay with this. Thats all she gets on ok grazing and she's fat on it.

my ISH (aka heinz 57 but chunkier - and far more feathers - in real life compared to the pics below ;)) get at the mo (just returned to work doing fitenning long reining (to help me shift my winter podge too :o) -

out 24/7 on reasonable grazing - still plenty to pick at
about half a bale of hay a day split into morning and evening
feed (split into two feeds)
- 1 scoop hi-fi molasses free
- half scoop conditioning cubes
- half scoop fibre buts
- 4 squirts oil
- vits and mins powdered suppliment
- apples and carrots

mid summer last year that was approx the same but less hay and just 1 scopp allan and page power and performance a day rather than fibre nuts/conditioning cubes

once the powdered vit and mins have run out i'm going to swap to a balancer - prob baileys performace balancer - and try just that and the chaff - if she needs more i'll add back the P&P
